Wasn’t Selvala Heart of the Wilds in the Maximum Power category? Did she get bumped down or am I just remembering it wrong? If so, why’d she get bumped down? She seems pretty consistent to me.

She was never in Maximum Power in this iteration of the list. Maybe she was at the top when other people were maintaining it, but she's always been in Competitive since we took over.

Hey could someone explain to me why yisan the wanderer bard is better than prime speaker vannifar? I mean sacking the creature is pretty easy and it chains up for free? Maybe that people could just kill the big creature, but not if you chain in one turn?

It looks like Jodah, Archmage Eternal isn’t on the list?

I've been playing a Godo deck for a while and my experience concurs with the others here that he deserves to move up a tier.
Either way, thanks for this list!

Sooo what is the ruling on wishes and sideboard?
I'd like to know because Captain Sisay can now use "Karn, the Great Creator" to possibly get win cons with the -2 abilities and doubles up as a hate piece :D

Also hopefully Captain Sisay can make an appearance on the following lab maniacs episode

Edh is a social format. For which any additional rules or stipulations in your meta are not governed by any rules committee. If your friends will let you have a wishboard then by all means you are allowed.
The decks listed currently don't support wishboards as it is not in the "official" set of rules by the edh committee.
But something to note: if wishes get brought in it will add some cool complexity & tutors to colours usually unable to - meaning that a fair few lists may pop up based on this & furthermore many decks will likely use these (though this is unlikely).

CyborgAeon While I am aware that EDH is a social format, I disagree with using that as an excuse to ignore the format's rules. If you're at home, sure, go wild - but if you're at a store? I shouldn't have to point out that partial mulligans are no longer a part of the rules when I sit down at a pod in a new store. Magic as a game started out as a casual experience, but the fact of the matter is it has long since evolved past that and one of my biggest gripes about EDH is WoTC's failure to officially support and moderate the format's rules.
In any event, to summarize: sideboards and partial mulligans don't exist in EDH. They are against the rules and asking to do/use them is asking to ignore the rules. Similarly to using banned cards or cards you do not have VALID copies of (gold-bordered and/or true proxies); playing a game means accepting the rules for said game.

ShaperSavant Ah. I've oddly never actually looked at that limitation of Food Chain (my copy has seen very little use); this was basically just an example, though - is Food Chain the most effective infinite mana combo, then? Because Tasigur specifically gives you access not only to the entire deck but recurs everything, as well, with infinite mana - so most lines requiring Timetwister or some other effect to return a card in order to 'complete' the infinite aren't necessary - your wincon can be any number of utility cards which are never 'dead' drops before you've achieved that infinite. I suppose my point is Tazri (in my example) doesn't actually help you get to your infinite so I was curious how much of a difference a few more colors make. I'm not questioning the resilience of Tazri, I'm just curious how some of these other commanders which win as soon as you have infinite mana are lacking.
As an aside, anyone think the new Jace (Laboratory Maniac) might make an appearance in some of the cEDH lines? The effect being on a noncreature is particularly interesting.

Food Chain is one of the strongest infinite mana combos; the big other contender is Isochron Scepter + Dramatic Reversal . It has a few notable upsides: it costs 3 mana total with some board presence (vs. 4), doesn't require non summoning-sick creatures or artifact critical mass, it doesn't use the activated abilities of artifacts or creatures and thus is not impacted by Cursed Totem or Null Rod, is a mana ability that is difficult to respond to in some contexts, is an enchantment which is difficult for black or red to interact with, etc. One of the biggest draws of the Food Chain builds is that single cards tutor both halves of the combo: e.g. Demonic Consultation exiles Eternal Scourge on the way to Food Chain . Food Chain also gets cantripping tutors for the exile creatures a la Manipulate Fate .
Isochron's main upsides are being able to use the mana for non-creatures, and getting outlet commanders with higher utility. Artifact tutors are much less powerful than the exile tutors, which means less tutor density overall.
They're both quite strong with both having slight tradeoffs that make them worthy of sitting around the same power bracket.
New Jace will likely see a good amount of play in Laboratory Maniac centric builds like Consultation Kess.

@n0bunaga it is one of my pet peeves; it may seem like a simple matter to 'explain something' if it is a store you frequent often and people KNOW you - but then in that situation you really don't have to make such explanations. The only time this would come up is as a new player, meaning it WILL cause some level of friction if the group is clearly used to using a 'house rule' (otherwise there would be no need to point it out).
As far as the ruling, your interpretation of that exact line is clearly different from mine - the default state is a negative. The fact that they wrote in the reminder that you can make 'house rules' doesn't change the fact that it would be a variation of the rule-set for your playgroup and should not be assumed, therefor as per rules they are not allowed [without prior agreement] just as banned cards are not allowed [without prior agreement].
April 5, 2019 10:46 p.m.
n0bunga I mean, I'm reading the words verbatim here.
"...do not function in Commander [without prior agreement on their scope from the playgroup]."
The section in brackets is a condition; until that condition is met the section is effectively not there. Meaning the default state of the rules reads as:
"Abilities which refer to other cards owned outside the game (Wishes, Spawnsire, Research, Ring of Ma'ruf) do not function in Commander."
While I am aware the answer to the 'can I sideboard in EDH' question is a BIT more than a simple "No.", I feel that adding the qualifications merely confuses a player asking said question and one should never go into a game blind with the expectation that a sideboard will be acceptable, thus it is safer to simply presume the default state. And to be frank, event organizers and private playgroups can make any variation or qualifications to the rules they'd like, it doesn't change the fact that these are variations and/or qualifications and the default state of the rules still stands otherwise.
In any event, this really isn't a great place to have this discussion...

Does somebody want to talk/comment about the potential of
Fblthp,The Lost
as a new mono blue, Teferi-style combo-commander? Some people in my playgroup already hail him as a new Tier 1 Commander. I am still undecided.

Hello there,
First of all, thanks a lot for creating and maintaining this list! My suggestion for a change concerns Mina and Denn, Wildborn . I notice it is categorized here under “Mid Power”. However, my experiences with M&D is that they could fit into the “High Power - B” category. The list I run can easily compete with other generals in that tier. However, those experiences might be meta-dependent. Could you have a look?

I'm testing this deck. But I'm more hyped of the casually style points, then the upsides to Teferi that this little dude brings with him.
It's 2 Mana faster. Proteus Staff feel's less as a dead card then Chain Veil outside of combo, rather you never will play it in any normal case outside of combo, because it can get removed from the game.
Helm + Future Sight + Top Paradox Engine + Key + Top
Feels both great in the Deck as a backup and really synergetic. While the first 3 card combo is part of an efficient "doomsday" line for the deck, the second one synergies well with the deck and in emergency situations. Key and Engine can untap Staff for a second start when someone interacts with the combo.
I think the main issue is the lack of a second card that work directly with Fblthp. Teferi can hit tables really hard with Stasis. Fblthp lacks this possibility and sits on the High Tide Storm and Paradox Scepter backup.

Hi all. I would be keen to get some input from people on the following deck:
Overlord Overkill
Commander / EDH*
SCORE: 1 | 3 COMMENTS | 99 VIEWS | IN 1 FOLDER
Which I am trying to optimise for cEDH play. There are a few cards in question and it would be good to get people's thoughts on it, if they have the time/energy. Cheers.

Daxos the Returned is High Power I believe. My deck list on here is outdated, I'll try to update it soon.
I play other decks that are tiered like Kaalia of the Vast (High Power), Ghoulcaller Gisa (Mid Power), Marrow-Gnawer (Mid Power), Kozilek, Butcher of Truth (Mid Power).
Daxos the Returned is at least a Tier above those decks, and Kaalia is not High Power, she should be Mid.

Azire have you seen BadDogs Kaalia deck? It can definitely keep up with the top of the format at a table...if you don't think she can be a lot better than Daxos, maybe you just play her weaker?
April 10, 2019 6:10 a.m.
High power decks seem to be defined as decks weaker than competitive on average, but that can hold their own in a comp pod if built right. Also if paired against 6-7/10 decks, they should beat them on a regular basis.
Take Kefnet for instance; Kefnet can win off IsoRev or play HT efficiently. And if built well, he could be relevant in a pod with comp decks. But generally, Thras is better for IsoRev, and JVP and Baral are better for HT.
Kaalia isn’t competitive by any stretch. However she is a beast in focused/optimized and with enough acceleration and stax, she can be a factor at competitive tables.
I’m very interested in this Daxos that supposedly can keep up with higher tables. For Daxos to be High power, his budgetless “perfect” build should be able to play side by side with competitive decks and stomp focused/optimized/7 decks on a regular basis. And I myself have yet to see such build

Addendum: Sidisi, Brood Tyrant can also be played as Food Chain combo. However, it's very reliant on the graveyard and requires extra pieces like Narcomeba and Dread Return. Tazri can combo through grave hate and doesn't require extra resources to win beyond what Food Chain is able to generate.
