The purpose of this deck is to regularly gain life in order to activate Angelic Accord and Archangel of Thune's abilities. Festering Newt and Bubbling Cauldron provide enough life to activate Angelic Accord. Elixir of Immortality activates both angels and also recycles any crucial cards hit by counter spells. Ordeal of Heliod works with Phalanx Leader quickly to produce 10 life gain. Dauntless Onslaught is able to activate two Phalanx Leaders at once. Gift of Orzhova provides lifelink and flying in addition to activating Phalanx Leader .

Further counter spells may need to be sideboarded in.
