Sideboard adjustment —April 17, 2014

So I realized that I only had 2 cards to be used for Boros Burn in my sideboard. I haven't seen too much of this yet, but I realized I was quite weak to the strategy if I came across one. I decided to drop the 1 of Drown in Sorrow I had in the sideboard as my game against aggro was already pretty good, so I dropped it and put a 1 of Negate in its place to help counter the burn.

This also gives me another option vs control decks as well

Hey, as far as your Esper match goes 1 AEtherling and 4 Underworld Connections would be pretty good against them. I also think that making up your mind whether you're a midrange or control deck will help you with most all of your matches. Playing Dissolve is no good in a midrange deck most of the time, you want to be tapping out for your own threats, so by the time you run out of dudes to play, your opponent has probably landed a threat that you'll have a problem beating, like an Elspeth. Also, Elixir doesn't go into anything other than the most heavy control decks, I can't see it in this one at all. I think Courser of Kruphix is also an instant add into this deck, because you have a fairly high curve and it keeps you alive against aggro decks, and helps you find relevant spells against control. He's surprisingly good against them, even though he gives them information.

So, I might take out 1 Putrefy (because artifacts aren't that common right now), 1 Devour Flesh (because neither is hexproof, it's mostly just a concession to Blood Baron), 2 Dissolve, 1 Elixir, 2 Lifebane Zombies, and 2 Kiora's Followers.

That leaves you 9 spots, I would add 4x Underworld Connections , 4x Courser of Kruphix , and 1x AEtherling

As far as the sideboard goes, 2 Vraska is fine, you probably don't want the 3rd, and Psychic Intrusion is just a bad a card, and 1 Drown in Sorrow should be fine, but I may be wrong about that. Those could be Mistcutter Hydra , that card is a hoss against a lot of decks right now.

Oh, and with Courser of Kruphix and Jace to help you hit lands, you could probably take 1 out for another kill spell, probably a Hero's Downfall, or maybe a 2 mana one like Ultimate Price =) sorry I always forget something in the first comment, lol

Thanks for the advice corythackston!

I thought about Courser of Kruphix , and I MAY make the switch to him if my local meta picks up in aggro (but my matchups right now have been good against them).

The reason for the inclusion of the counterspells was because the ONLY time I lost to an aggro deck was a white weenie one and Brave the Elements allowed them to attack through my defenses for an out of nowhere win. It was also my only main deck defense against an opposing AEtherling .

Mistcutter Hydra or Underworld Connections will probably get put in over the Psychic Intrusion and maybe something else...dont' think it will be Vraska the Unseen as she has been great when I needed her (removal, kills enchantments/artifacts, and CAN be a win con if need be in the late game). I will most likely drop a Drown in Sorrow but if aggro takes off more, I may include it over Vraska the Unseen ...only time will tell.

I do not like dropping a Devour Flesh as it is the ONLY answer I have maindeck for a Blood Baron of Vizkopa that resolves (outside of Kiora, the Crashing Wave ). It's also something that allows me to deal with a Witchstalker or other hexproof guy. I would drop a Putrefy over the Devour Flesh for this reason if I choose to go this route.

Thanks again for the advice and I will take them into consideration!
