Chosen by Heliod provides a bit of defense while also drawing a card renewing resources to activate heroic as well as Grisly Transformation which can provide evasion.

Ordeal of heliod and eternal thirst provide life gain helping to pay the life cost of pain lands. With agent of the fates being targeted by a spell eternal thirst will kick in for any creature that has the aura and a +1/+1 counter will be given, if attached to fabled hero double strike will provide at least 6 life on a hit.
