Two Knight Examplar vs Destroy/Damage Mass removal

Asked by lightcolour 6 years ago

What would happen if that interaction between them would occur.

Is indestructable a target only effect like hexproof?

[[card:Knight Exemplar]]

Knight Exemplar

Each Knight Exemplar gives other Knights indestructible, that means that both are indestructible.

This is what the rules say about indestructible:

702.12b A permanent with indestructible can't be destroyed. Such permanents aren't destroyed by lethal damage, and they ignore the state-based action that checks for lethal damage (see rule 704.5g).

Indestructible works on all effects that deal damage or destroy. An indestructible creature won't die whether you try to kill it with Hero's Downfall or Damnation.

All your knights will die if someone plays a card like Anger of the Gods (Assuming they all have power =<3) because they all take the damage, but it only kills Knight Exemplar because he doesn't grant himself indestructible. Then because he died the other knights wouldn't have indestructible and then they die because of the lethal damage because indestructible doesn't prevent damage it only prevents the creature from being destroyed by lethal damage.

Except that two Knight Exemplars do grant each other indestructible, so neither die to Anger of the Gods. In order to lose your board state your opponent would need to play exile (like Settle the Wreckage or Vraska's Contempt), bounce (like Unsummon or River's Rebuke), sacrifice (like To the Slaughter or All Is Dust), or return to library (like Condemn or AEtherspouts).
