I don't know about you all but BFZ is one of my most anticipated sets. The original zendikar block is where I started magic and fell in love with allies. So much so I built an edh deck around em: Allies EDH. So the one thing I hope Wizards does is create a five color legendary ally. What are your guys thinking wizards will do for this upcoming set?

It would be nice if they bring back the opposing-color fetch lands, allowing all of the fetch lands in standard.

That being said, we can expect to see more of the Eldrazi colorless spells and the return of Eldrazi Spawn tokens. Sorin clearly plays a significant role in the storyline. They could do some pretty exciting things with the vampires, which were superb in Zendikar block.

We can hope for a new version of Gideon, possibly Gideon, the Holy Book Planter (lol). Jace could be expected to appear as well, though we can hope that WotC delivers nothing so broken as Jace, the Mind Sculptor.

Kor creatures will probably return, so we can expect some nice weenies along with nifty bits of good, cheap equipment, which might shore up Modern Affinity.

I wasn't sure if I should start a new thread and decided to post on this one because it's still on the first page for this forum.

I am curious which exact reprints we might see. In particular do you think we might see a Rest for the Weary? It could make Esper Draons even more insanely good, especially when Bile Blight and Drown in Sorrow rotate out. Not to mention that mono red would be sort of done for if had access to both this and Feed the Clan.

I do hope we see some more Kor creatures. They are a nice way to build tribal because there's nothing else to go to if you want to build artifacts and tribal that fits thematically. Sure, Knights use swords. But Knights are more expensive than swords...so..it's just to slow. Hopefully if Kor are reprinted we'll see the decent enough to see good modern play. Nothing as broken as Stoneforge Mystic but perhaps if it limited the CMC of the equipment to even just 2 it might be permissible, yet still playable even if you couldn't cheat large equip costs.

Something like Puresteel Paladin that didn't have "metalcraft" but just made equipment cheaper to equip by as a 2 drop creature would be sweet to.

Thing is, Mystic wasn't broken, at least in Zendikar. It took the perfect storm of squadron hawks, mystics, JtMS, AND THE MIRRODIN SWORDS to make the second most oppressive standard deck ever.

Honestly all I want from zendikar is more trap cards. Trap, like Arcane, could actually be really good if Wizards just printed some more. Trap is also extremely interactive

I really wish I had been playing back then. I could have so many JTMS right now. I would press them to my skull, saran-wrap them in place, and let their awesome healing powers deliver me from illness.

On the real though I like the trap cards but I feel like Summoning Trap and Archive Trap are to powerful. Perhaps if they balanced Archive Trap by making it have a free Mind Sculpt if the condition is met it'd be a little fairer.

The Summoning Trap though just says "Screw you , I win!" which I ..am not a fan of. Perhaps if instead of possibly ripping out something like Dragonlord Atarka from the top 7 it was worded so they had to get something with less CMC than the thing I countered, that would be nice. I mean it's kind of bogus if I spend to Cancel a Thunderbreak Regent the player just goes an gets a stupid Atarka from the top 7 of his library, but if they got a Deathmist Raptor then I think that would be ok.
