Yahenni's Expertise + Eternal Witness

Seems like a sold B/G build could emerge from this combo. You Expertise away the board, and you're left with a 2/1 AND THE SWEEPER BACK IN YOUR HAND. Add some Abrupt Decays, hand attack, maybe simple Golgari could become competitive. Thoughts?

I dont think you can get the sweeper back i think thr trigger from e-witness resolves before expertise fully resolves

Nothing can be put on the stack while a spell is resolving, so the next time state based actions are checked and you gain priority to put the E-Witness trigger on the stack, Yahenni's Expertise will be finished resolving and in the graveyard.

Is it better than putting a Tarmogoyf into play and beating your opponent's face in on the freshly swept board, though? Your E Witness will die the next time you cast the Expertise and a conditional sweeper that the opponent knows about is infinitely easier for them to play around.

Sounds interesting. Add blue and Ancestral Vision?

The main things holding Golgari back right now are lack of Path to Exile and Lingering Souls or lack of Lightning Bolt, Terminate and K-Command. I like Expertise but it doesn't really fill the gaps.

I think the deck that wants Expertise is Grixis, just because of how much value they gain off of casting their cards for free. Also good with new Liliana to kill those pesky 4 toughness creatures and redrawing your dead stuff.

Yeah, it works and I guess you can... kill (some, lots of creatures in modern has 4+ toughness) stuff twice? But then your witness dies the second time anyway? Doesn't seem great to me. If you can keep bouncing e-witness for value on a non-creature, I guess that's kinda interesting against aggro decks. Still seems too slow for me.

Witness is cool and all, but I'm with SwaggyMcSwagglepants here.
Expertise --> kommand just sounds like a stronger line of play than expertise --> witness

Also Grixis Control just runs Ancestral Visions which is pretty disgusting with Expertise.

For the naysayers, the 3+ toughness creatures in midrange decks generaly tend to be present on the board as 1 of, thus the cards is still prefectly good for clearing away Confidant, or aggro creatures.
While allowing you to cast something for free - and after -3/-3 tasigur dies even to a bolt.

I would say wizard is testing the waters for a non-OP version of cascade.
