What are your thoughts on my deck idea?

I'm thinking about building an EDH deck around the combo of Vela the Night-Clad (the commander), Time Sieve , and Thopter Assembly . Time Sieve + Thopter Assembly gets you infinite turns, add Vela the Night-Clad to the mix and all the sacrificing kills all your opponents. What do you think? Is this a practical idea or is it not worth pursuing?

I think it's okay because Vela the Night-Clad is so high in cmc

That's a 14 mana combo... I mean it's fine for an EDH deck (all of my decks win in far more convoluted ways), but if you plan to take on cEDH decks, it's not fast enough. Not sure what kind of meta you're building this EDH deck for... but if it's mostly for fun, heck yeah, go for it.

I mean the combo itself seems just fine for casual edh, but I don't think itll work out perfectly each time. Also, there's probably other pieces you can use instead of Vela the Night-Clad as a way to ensure unblockability for them. But I don't think you'll have a strong chance against a cedh player.

dbpunk Veela isn’t for the intimidate... it’s for the 1 health ping every time a thopter token gets sac’d to Time Sieve , which will be five tokens = five life per extra turn loop.

Blood Artist is a better way to ping your opponents if you ask me. Otherwise its a cool combo!

Sounds fun. There's a lot of tutors in dimir colors to make it happen too

Plus you can have other Deadeye Navigator and Tidespout Tyrant combos to pair with Vela

The only issue with this is that while it is "infinite" turns, what this more accurately means is five life per card in your library. So unless you have a way to constantly re-shuffle, at some point you run out of cards. I'm not saying it's hard to do, but Vela the Night-Clad , Palinchron and Deadeye Navigator seems like just an easy to combo loop with the benefit of actually being "infinite" by itself.

Just slap in a Elixir of Immortality , Ulamog, the Infinite Gyre , Dread or any card that shuffle itself or your Graveyard into your library again!
