I'm thinking about using this card as my general and I was wondering what would be very useful in the deck

Check out my Mayael EDH deck, but just fair warning, I have spent a lot of money on this deck and am still obtaining some other cards like eldrazi and whatnot.
I hope this helps you have an idea of where to start :)

Recursion, Ramp, Protection for your Commander. The Gods are nuts actually. All 6 relevant gods are probably playable. Surprisingly Purphoros is probably the least favorite.
Other popular specific suggestions include;
ChiefWannaHacka, Ohthenoises and adt630 all have some pretty fun decks to take some ideas from. There are many others too, but I'm not remembering them at the moment.
Mayael is a fun commander, welcome to the team.

Of those, I only use Sensei's and Avacyn, I found that Illusionist's Bracers on Mayael the Anima or Elvish Piper makes people not like me :)

2 words, Topdeck Manipulation.
We all have very different versions of Mayael, but we all utilize Topdeck Manipulation. It makes playing her so much more fun, powerful, and most of all silly!

My wife's version is all about abusing Indestructible creatures and multiple attack steps.
Being able to deal 56 damage in one turn with two attack steps is quite fun.

I used Xenagos, God of Revels triggered ability on Worldspine Wurm them attacked with it, and Aurelia, the Warleader . I killed both of my opponents in that one turn haha

I love Aurelia, the Warleader in my build. She comes in and the game usually ends in fairly short order.

Cream of the Crop , Eldrazi gods, Theros block Gods, Knotvine Mystic , etc.
