Fun deck

Commander Deck Help forum

Hi All!

Looking for a little help. I'm trying to build a janky but hopefully fun deck for commander. The idea is, five colors, all of the infinite combos I can squeeze into it, zero card tutors.

I recognize that this is the opposite of competitive or consistency, but the power level in our play group has been on a steady rise, so we're trying some fun/dumb stuff to address the creep.

Any help you all can provide, with giving me some juicy infinite combos would be awesome.

Thanks!

I would reccommend as many creatures as possible that can tap for more than one mana, then cards like Sword of the Paruns, Umbral Mantle, or Freed from the Real.

Is this even fun for you? I mean, really. Think about what it's like to play this deck in most games for you after 30 or so games with this thing? You're mostly playing low-powered cards with very few interactions with one another and once in a while, you win. It's useless to even interact with a deck where every cards is one half of an A+B but the deck can only stumble on the other half.

If your meta needs to be reigned in a bit, why not try to play decks with a theme or restrictions. For example, I needed a pretty terrible deck top play with the casual crowd at my shop, so I made a Brey deck dedicated to going wide with artifact tokens. It's not good, but at least the deck functions as more than just a pile of cards.

I just don't see most people sticking with this type of deck for more than a month. It fundamentally lacks many of the things that make MtG appealing for most players.

If, however, you still want to go with this type of deck, you could look up combos that have some sort of common defining element so that the pieces you'll run will have at least have some sort of synergy with one another. Think tap untap or sac recur type effects, for example. Try to have some kind of plan to execute.

Waiting for combos to come up sounds boring to me. Have you considered building a deck without a win condition? Just build something zany that messes with the board and have fun. I'm thinking along the lines of Confusion in the Ranks, Warp World, and Thieves' Auction. I'm sure there are some decks posted on here somewhere you could use for inspiration.

My previous fun deck was wall of text where the only consideration was how much rules text was printed on the cards. I do enjoy these types of just do stuff decks, but commander really is more about the social for me.

Thanks for the combo page link!
