The deck did very well against a plethora of casual and budget deck. UB Ninja, UB Mill, Allies, Slivers, Red Deck Wins, etc. Normally, the win comes at turn 7 with a mix of burn, Blightning and the The Rack/Shrieking Affliction lock.Next will be against more harder deck to beat in two weeks.

I'm asking myself if Funeral Charm will be a better spell, being a mini-Darkblast , a swampwalking (if I put Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth in the deck) and an instant discard spell.

Yes, Funeral Charm would be a great spell. When they're topdecking, you can cast it in response to them drawing their card, so it almost turns into a Time Walk for 1 mana. Plus those other uses.

As far as the deck: It looks solid. I'm not sure about Grim Lavamancer here. It's a very strong card, but might not be optimal in a discard deck. I also disagree with the full 8 The Rack /Shrieking Affliction . You'll be stuck with lots of those and no discard spells. I'd much rather go down to maybe 4-6 copies and get some more discard spells.

4 Raven's Crime ? Yes, it can be a strong discard spell, especially in conjunction with The Rack , but once you get one in the graveyard, the rest become useless. I'd go down to 2 if you still want to keep them.

I do really love Nyxathid , and I would go up to the full 4 copies here. I don't have them in my deck because I'm too cheap to buy them, but if you don't have that problem, go right ahead. Same with Hypnotic Specter .

Hopes this helps! Looks like a great deck, +1

I was about to give Grim Lavamancer a try, only because I feel he was able to give these some last points of damage in close match up, as a poor man's replacement for Deathrite Shaman . I was not convinced myself, thanks for your advice.

My friend and I have almost the same deck (his is mono-black) and the number of both Nyxathid and Hypnotic Specter was a great question to solve through testing! 2? 3? 4?

And I guess you're right about Raven's Crime , retrace is not as good as flashback and putting less can give me more card slots for better stuff. I give a try to a 3/3 combination of Shrieking Affliction /The Rack , because this version (as opposed to the "true" 8Rack) don't absolutely need them.

I do not own Thoughtseize , does Duress can be use or not in this build?

Anyway, thanks for you opinion, it's welcome

I'm super budget, so I don't own Thoughtseize either. Duress will definitely work, but if you have Inquisition of Kozilek , Raven's Crime , The Rack , and Shrieking Affliction , you might have a pretty full turn 1.

My initial instinct would be the more the merrier with Hypnotic Specter and Nyxathid , but I've never had all of them in my deck, so if it doesn't work in playtesting, don't do it!

Yeah, Grim Lavamancer is a good creature, I just think you could have better cards in those slots. No problem, thanks for your help with my deck.

Anyway, my reflexes will be to keep near all the 3-of's and playsets of all the cards that can be useful in the deck for further testing.

And that was a pleasure ;)
