Tempo or Value? Why not both!

Although Blue and Black were pushed as the cycling synergy colors in Hour of Devastation, I have found Blue and Red to be the best colors to take advantage of the potent synergies present currently in standard.

The core of the deck is comprised of Drake Haven and Hollow One. These cards reward discarding with highly efficient creatures. These cards reward us for playing otherwise mediocre discard spells.

Tormenting Voice and Cathartic Reunion become potent combo spells with the other cards in this deck. Cathartic Reunion, in particular, frequently reads, "4R, Discard two cards: Summon two 2/2 Drakes with flying, a 4/4 artifact creature, and draw three cards."

Lightning Axe and Fiery Temper act as potent removal spells. Lightning Axe is another discard enabler, while Fiery Temper is a laughably-easy-to-madness reward. Lightning Bolt is in standard!

Curator of Mysteries, Hieroglyphic Illumination and Censor are three high-utility blue cycling cards that help search for vital lands and combo pieces in the extreme early game. Curator acts a weak reward as well as enabler, allowing it to do double-duty while still providing the modal versatility of cycling.

Bedlam Reveler is an amazing card for this deck, and will be nearly irreplaceable come Shadows Over Innistrad block's rotation. The card is the ideal late game drop: It's cheap mana cost combined with its mass-discard allows you to unleash a 4+ drakes using Drake Haven, often completely turning the game around. The low creature and high instant count in this deck means that Reveler's prowess can be unexpectedly fatal if left unblocked.

Overall, the deck is explosive and resilient: The cheap burn cards and recurring drakes allow it to fight aggro. The uncounterable nature of Drake Haven and cycling allow it to function well against control decks. The extremely high count of cycling and looting effects means that it easily finds vital pieces like land and Drake Haven.

Finally, this deck appeals to me because it has a Johnny-attracting set of synergies while being constructed of underplayed and cheap cards.

Cathartic Reunion + Drake Haven + Hollow One -> 4R, Discard 2 Cards: two 2/2 with flying, a 4/4 and draw three.

Drake Haven + Fiery Temper + Lightning Axe -> 1RR: 2/2 with flying, deal 5 to creature, lightning bolt

X Inst/Sorc in graveyard + Bedlam Reveler + Drake Haven -> 6RR - (X): For each card you discard to reveler, pay (1) and make a 2/2 drake. Draw 3 and make a 3/4 with prowess.

Drake Haven + Hollow One + Tormenting Voice : 5R, Discard a Card: 2/2 with Flying, 4/4, Draw 2
