Deck Update (long overdue) —Jan. 26, 2015

A lot of changes have been made to this deck. Some are recent, some... less so. Thought I'd bring everyone up to speed. Plus, resetting comments because way too many.

  • -Blue Sun's Zenith, +Three Wishes: I love USZ, but it's more of a combo piece than a proper cantrips to me at this point, and I don't have the mana to have it function as a backup win con. Testing out Three Wishes, thanks to one user's really good suggestion. Hasn't seen play yet, but hope it does well.
  • -Split Decision, +Twincast: I mostly used it as a Twincast anyway, might as well make the swap.
  • -Voyage's End, +Chain of Vapor: The fact that the End only hit creatures often spelled out the end for this deck. The scry doesn't make up for it. One mana cheaper, and can potentially work as a political tool to bounce multiple things? Works for me.
  • -Reality Strobe, +Wipe Away: The Strobe hits on a bit problem that really affects the next couple of cuts as well: Too much mana to be worth it, even for what it does. Even though it recurs itself, even though it's decent removal, too much mana for a sorcery-speed bounce spell. Wipe Away's instant speed and resistance to most countermagic sells it for me.
  • -Recurring Insight, +Reality Shift: Too much mana, sorcery speed, and I have to have mana up after the fact for it to be worth it at all. I love Recurring Insight, but the playgroups I'm in often are in a league above it, and I need to step it up. New removal spell is super nifty.
  • -Caged Sun, +Gilded Lotus: Too much mana, sorcery speed, and needed mana up after the fact for it to be worth it. Gilded Lotus solves... well, one and a half of these problems. Might be cut eventually anyway.
  • -Future Sight, +Overburden: Too much mana, blah blah blah blah blah. Elves and Goblins and Humans are running me over too quickly in a lot of games. I hope Overburden helps slow things down a little. Also, nothing but upside in a one-creature deck.
  • -Island, +Maze of Ith: Picked it up recently. Good thing to grab against Voltron type decks with Tolaria West.
