It's time to give this guy a chance! —Feb. 22, 2016

After people suggesting this card a lot, I finally made an effort to fit him into the deck and decided to take out Kalitas, Traitor of Ghet and Deflecting Palm to make room for Treacherous Pit-Dweller!

• Removed 2x Kalitas, Traitor of Ghet & 2x Deflecting Palm

• Added 3x Treacherous Pit-Dweller & the 4th Torpor Orb for consistency!

• Cleared comments section to avoid misleading and old comments

I'm really glad people enjoyed this build and I really didn't expect to reach Rank #1 with this deck, so THANK YOU ALL FOR THE COMMENTS, SUGGESTIONS AND SUPPORT!!!

I really like the list, and Torpor Orb is actually a good answer to the Eldrazi matchup. I don't think you need Dreadbore and Hero's Downfall in the 75. Could be better off using like one to two copies of Terminate, and about 3-4 Path to Exile. Also think Deflecting Palm is a bit weird here. I wouldn't say it's entirely not worth having, but some matches it's just not very good. Maybe 1-2 Kolaghan's Command could be in here? Duffzord

C.LewisMTG true that, I was thinking about adding Terminate yesterday, it is so good because despite of killing the opponents' creatures, it can also work to kill the Centaur tokens from Hunted Horror and also to kill opponents' creature brought by Boldwyr Heavyweights if there's a case I'm forced to play them without the Orb in play or if someone destroys the orb in response to my creatures...

Kolaghan's Command is also an excellent suggestion, I didn't even remember about this card since I didn't play KTK much, I'll definitely add this card to the list and remove both Dreadbore and Hero's Downfall since I can kill PWs with direct damage/attacks.

Path to Exile requires some testing, I thought about it but I really don't like giving my opponent land advantage like that, I was thinking about Oblivion Ring instead, what do you think?

You're really only going to use Path to Exile on the threats that you can't bolt or helix away. And most modern decks past turn 4, don't really care about the additional land they get (of course they are still going to get it, but it doesn't really do much to the board state at all). With blood moon being in the format, people are going to run more basics than typically normal, so I do agree that maybe you shouldn't lean on Path to do a huge amount of work, and might keep the copies at a max of three maybe? But just having that one drop removal is huge. Duffzord

C.LewisMTG I see... So basically it is the Swords to Plowshares for modern right?

I also forgot that the tokens have protection from Black, so I think Path to Exile would really fit better than Terminate, I guess I'll just replace one for the other then

I still like keeping Terminate in. Could possibly remove two deflecting palm for 1 terminate, and bump up to a 4th thoughtseize?

C.LewisMTG I am not sure about that change.. 3 to 4 copies isn't that much of a deal and it feels like I already do too much damage to myself with the lands so I don't really want a 4th Thoughtseize

And well, I like Deflecting Palm for the surprise factor, people don't expect it and usually when you cast it you can get a huge advantage

Have you thought of Treacherous Pit-Dweller? Hard to cast but pretty decent.

I found another card that might be ok. Nyxathid costs might be hard to pull off on turn 3 but it looks like you have the fetches for it. It doesn't have trample though... just a thought

westonawhite thanks for the suggestion bro, Nyxathid is indeed an awesome card, but I fear it does not fit this deck because of the following reasons:

Nyxathid's ability is a Static ability as it reads "As this creature enters the battlefield..." opposed to a "Triggered" (the When effects) ability which Torpor Orb could possibly counter.

As is different than When because in the game it means its' ability procs at the same time it enters the battlefield, not after like the When effects.

Also it doesn't fit this deck much because I have no way to discard the opponents' cards, so at turn 3 it would probably go off very weak and not really worth the spot.

It is more of a card for heavy discard decks.

I know it isn't as big an impact as some other creatures in your deck, but would Treacherous Pit-Dweller be worthy of consideration?

amazingdan/Basuldur Well, I do think it's a good card and it would be a good eater of removals, but IMHO it could only fit the deck on the spot of Vexing Devil and comparing these 2 I wouldn't swap Vexing Devil for this card just because Vexing is better at turn 1 when you can either deal 4 damage to the opponent or keep a 4/3 for 1 mana or even at turn 3 when you could possibly cast Torpor Orb + Vexing Devil which wouldn't be possible with Treacherous Pit-Dweller

I might test it out just to see what happens though, I think it would be possible to swap Deflecting Palm for this guy to go for a more "aggro" road

I play a B/G version of this and play lotleth troll and Varolz. nothing funner than scavenging a deaths shadow on a flying trampler for the win. the deck is pretty surprisingly slow despite how big the threats are but it is super fun to play. worst case scenario instant speed artifact hate in response to playing eaer of days.
