Great concept! I would just say to maybe add Hellkite Tyrant to your thievery list. Steals other artifacts and gives you an alternate win condition! +1'ed

Hey! I was given your deck as a useful resource and I found a few good cards that i will be utilizing. If you care to look, here's my deck in infancy: MagicalHacker - Mishra, Artificer Prodigy.

This is pretty nifty, but there's something I'm missing. What exactly is the point of self countering your artifact in order to cast it from the graveyard? Wouldn't not countering it at all just amount to the same result? End of the day it's in play. I must be missing something...

PValBlanc: most of the cards to give the option to counter affect everyone, example being Nether Void so while everyone else's stuff gets countered or waits to build up mana to pay for things to not get countered, you'll just sit there and get the cards you want anyway. But if the option comes up where your stuff doesn't need to be countered, by all means play it.

brokendwarf, did you happen to find any cards in my decklist that you hadn't originally considered? Jw

Indeed. That is what I missed! Thanks. This is funny. I also used to think Mishra was useless in commander. Thanks for proving me wrong.

I love artifacts and I wanted Mishra to be my general but by looking at his ability I said to myself, this isn't going to work. But after looking at this list, I am working on building a Mishra edh deck!

Sorry haven't done the digging to find out yet, but any reason for the snow-covered lands? Just goin through and building my own version and hadn't seen any reason to have them yet. BTW awesome deck idea. I love jank commanders and wouldn't have figured this one out on my own. +1

BTMas2k: the point of snow-covered lands is for other people's Extraplanar Lens. Most people who run it also run snow-covered basics so only they get the benefit of Lens. Extraplanar Lens checks the name of the land imprinted on it; for example, if an Island is imprinted, Islands will produce more mana. Likewise, if a Snow-Covered Island is imprinted, Snow-Covered Islands will produce more mana.

I just wanted to comment on your statement in the description: "My opponent knows he doesn't want that Batterskull happening so he decides to counter it, thus putting in the graveyard. My opponent, however, fails to realize that Mishra's ability hasn't resolved yet." The simple way for your opponent to get around this is just to wait until Mishra's ability has resolved.

You cast a Batterskull with Mishra, Artificer Prodigy on the field, his ability triggers before anyone gets priority.

Stack looks like: Batterskull, Mishra trigger

Players now pass priority and your opponent waits for Mishra's trigger to resolve (finding nothing since you can only have one in the deck)

Stack looks like: Batterskull

Opponent casts Counterspell

Stack looks like: Batterskull, Counterspell

Counterspell resolves and counters Batterskull, sending it to the graveyard.

I'm putting the deck down. I love Mishra and used him once before. I just wanted to point this out in case you or any of your opponents believed your artifacts were uncounterable with Mishra out.

You might want to put in a Voltaic Construct it infinite colorless mana combos with Metalworker.

an_R_key: you did read Mishra correctly didn't you? He searches for the card and PUTS IT INTO PLAY. You aren't casting anything. How can your opponent respond with a Counterspell if it wasn't cast?

brokendwarf The only way Mishra's ability triggers and gets put on the stack is when you cast an artifact card. I was responding to a point made by the deck creator, and I tried to explain how an opponent could get around the trigger by timing his/her counters correctly.

To try and repost my point:

  1. You as the player CAST an artifact card, say Batterskull, Mishra triggers.

  2. Opponent holds Counterspell in hand and waits for Mishra's trigger to resolve - You as the player fail to find a second copy of Batterskull (since you're only allowed to have one in the deck).

  3. With Batterskull still on the stack, opponent counters it with Counterspell.

I still love Mishra and was merely trying to point out something to the deck creator because of a comment he made in the description.

an_R_key: I'm the deck creator. Yes, I understand your opponent can just wait for Mishra to resolve and then they counter it. It's not easy writing a primer and remembering to include everything. The point of the deck is you should already have enchantments set up to counter everything: your opponent's spells, and your artifacts that you get anyway.

I understand that. I love this deck. I apologize if you thought I was attacking your deck or something - quite the contrary. I just didn't want you to have a false impression of being immune to countermagic from your opponents, is all. I was merely trying to offer some assistance in bringing something to your attention if it wasn't already.

Also, you must be psyched about the rules change avoiding tucking generals given your Mishra-centric build.

I am slightly surprised that there is not a Magus of the Future. I feel as though redundancy is needed for a combo deck like this where the combo's are convoluted. I am not entirely sure what I would drop, though I question the inclusion of Cranial Plating. This wins off of combo's, and isn't strictly speaking an aggro/voltron deck.

also, Voltaic Key has to add some other combos as well...

Null Brooch:

I think it good in the aspect that you can counter anything with it and it is an artifact. but it might be too taxing.
