Over 10 years ago, I used to play a discard deck that used Megrim to deal direct damage. It was a fun deck, yet it was painfully slow. However, I eventually revised it after the more mana-efficient Liliana's Caress was printed.

Key synergies

Liliana's Caress + any discard spell

The point of this deck is to play Liliana's Caress ASAP, enabling any discard spell to trigger life loss for the opponent.

A discarded, cardless opponent + Nyxathid

As an additional win condition and for those games when you just cannot seem to topdeck the Liliana's Caress.

Liliana's Caress + Burning Inquiry

These two cards have amazing synergy, as not only they make the opponent lose 6 life for 3 CMC, but they also do not depend on the opponent actually having a hand, which means you can still play this after having a 7/7 Nyxathid.
