I really like the idea here. I have always loved the counters strategy, and tried in a ultra low-cost approaches.

The first thing I see in your list, is that I dont know how good here is the Hardened Scales, it would depend on if this works this way:-If you have played your Hardened Scales on turn 1, and you play your Servant of the Scale on turn 2, does it get 2 +1/+1 counters? because it enters the battlefiels already with this counter, and I don't know if the enchantement triggers here, then. If you get a 2/2 for G, or a 4/4 for 2G, it's cool then. If not, I don't think you get that much from those non-CoCo targetable cards.

Instead, I would look for more creatures with useful abilities, as Hidden Dragonslayer, which while is a good enough target for CoCo, it can be a kill spell for some huge dudes.

About the 4-drop discussion, I think I would replace those 4-drops for 4 Reverent Hunter, which is one of the coolest targets for your CoCo if you get something more (Avatar of the Resolute, for example) plus a one of Tuskguard Captain, to create some more "evasion". I would reduce the number of Salt Road Quartermasters to make room for those cards.

Finally, I don't see the Dragonlord Dromoka here, which I see as an aggro strategy, and with 23 lands I'm not sure if you can cast your 6th drop. And about the land topic, I hardly reccomend the inclusion of more dual lands: Temples or Mana Confluence (some fetchlands also, but G&W producers would be better).

Again, good deck, and +1!!

Also, I think you can go for the 4th CoCo to make a deck arround it, or set it to 2-3 copies as a source of card advantage. If you do this last option, you could also include a couple of those Inspiring Call that you have in your SB. Just for drawing 3 cards for 2G at instant? F*** you, Jace's Ingenuity!! Just for giving all your dudes indestructible? Ajani's Presence, you can do better..

Janco, First, thank you for your comments.

So, in reggards to the Servant of the Scale and Salt Road Quartermasters interaction with Hardened Scales is that it works, most of the time servant is a 1 mana 2/2 or 3/3 and quartermasters is a 3 mana 4/4 or 5/5, and best case scenario they are a 1 mana 5/5 and a 3 mana 7/7.

Moving on to the Reverent Hunter matter, the problem is that, most likely, it will have about the same stats as the Quartermasters, and the latter have a ablility which is useful as it generates more counters.

About the Inspiring Call thing, my reasoning here is that I want as few non-creature cards as possible, nad it would be a card I would board in against heavy removal decks, just imagine: a 3-4 creature board, the opponent taps out a Crux of Fate and you just tap three lands and play a card that reads ''you know that guy seating across the table, yeah, he's gonna cry''

Now I'm wondering about the Tuskguard Captain, this deck has only been lightly tested so I'm not so sure about how many sources of evasion I should have.

I agree with you on the Dragonlord Dromoka argument, she's (I'm almost sure it's a gurl) only here cause I opened her in a box and she looks badass as f*** (I'll take her out before FNM)

If you want to really get the most out of hardened scales I'd run heroics and the best cards you can find to trigger it. Check out my list if you don't believe me

Swinging in for game on thurn 3 in nice or pumping out huge threats mid game, hardened scales + a heroic base is almost broken pre rotation

I run a deck with a similar idea, and I couldn't agree more with 509carlisle on heroics, namely Favored Hoplite. He's a great 1-drop with easy protection from damage built in.

The creatures I don't really love here are Surrak, the Hunt Caller and Chronicler of Heroes.

You aren't cheating Surrak out early with ramp, so he might be an alright finisher sometimes but not consistantly winning you games.

Chronicler doesn't have an ability that is super relevant in the 3-drop spot because you need to be applying pressure by then since there are a lot better mid-range decks out there.

Collected Company is a fantastic card, but I don't personally like it in this type of deck, that being said, I've never been able to play test with it so it could be a house.

I would put in protection like Gods Willing and Feat of Resistance instead since removal is always difficult to beat with decks that require building up creatures with +1/+1 counters, and there is a ton of removal right now that hits creature bigger than 4/4.

If you want, check out my deck here:

http://tappedout.net/mtg-decks/09-05-15-gw-aggro-counters/ (if I link it using proper syntax it links to the wrong deck)

It plays pretty well and can occasionally win on turn 3.
