Hi Hybrow, thx for your upvote. For sure, I will include Ojer Axonil, Deepest Might  Flip and I will replace Snake Basket with Song of Totentanz.

I love a Purphy deck. He is my first love, even above my volo deck. The Fat Red Line - Purphoros EDH

I am a stats nerd, so I have custom sorted everything by potential ETB damage. You can then see if something that costs 6CMC, but only gives 4ETB damage is worth keeping or scrapping

For instance, I have found that Empty the Warrens was not worth the CMC, with the low CMC and speed of this deck, you cant guarentee the Storm side of it, so its usually 4 for 4. A good trade out might be Ojer Axonil, Deepest Might  Flip, does 4 damage automatically and can be brought back if dies.

I dont know how heavily you are leaning into Goblins, but may want to consider Spawn-Gang Commander for Siege-Gang Commander. Straight trade that can then be used for mana.

Also, Song of Totentanz might be a good trade out for Snake Basket

Good luck not being the target of your friend group when you play this deck :)

Kaya's Ghostform can't enchant Lotus Petal. Maybe you are thinking of another card Venoctus?

Bretagard Stronghold, Cryptic Caves, Encroaching Wastes, Blast Zone there are a ton of lands you can sac for value (and not that expensive of most).

Snake Basket is a lot of chump blockers but not thematic. Any of the Goad enchantments.

carpecanum Thanks for the suggestions!

Stolen Strategy can certainly lend itself to some fun games, and I'd highly consider it if I were building a "fun" deck. This deck is just meant to be fast, strong, and consistent. I would never play Zada if I wanted to have fun...it's just too linear and repetitive. Stolen Strategy is the kind of card that can keep you from running out of steam, but if Zada loses momentum it'll take more than random spells to save the game in the kind of meta I'm designing for with this deck. Fun card though!!!

Snake Basket seems slow to me. It would be useful with infinite mana, but that's really rare in this deck. For my "get creatures on the field" cards, I usually look at the mana-to-body ratio. A 1-1 ratio is pretty good up to 3 creatures, and past that it tends to be an extra mana because everything is contained in one card. So 5 mana for 4 bodies would be good. Snake basket has a loss of 4 mana, and most of the time I won't be able to create enough tokens for it to be worth it. See something like Tempt with Vengeance for a great example of a "create x" spell.

Mob Rule seems amazing in concert with Battle Hymn. I don't know how often I'll have the mana to cast it but I definitely think it's worth testing!

Stolen Strategy could give you access to more creatures and spells. I wouldn't consider it in 1v1 games.

Snake Basket maybe and I would definitely try out Mob Rule for more creatures to target.

Some thoughts

  • Snake Basket isn’t modern legal.

  • with this many 1-ofs and 2-ofs, i’d suggest a playset (4-of) Whir of Invention.

  • Try and get your deck down to 60 cards, 74 is faaar too many cards, it’ll make your hands and draws much weaker.

  • when you cut back to 60 cards, you’ll probably want to go back to 22-23 lands (percentage-wise, this is the same as you’re currently running).

  • Modern is a fast format, and you’re running waaay too many high mana cards (cmc 4 or above). I would suggest cutting back on these severely, so that most of your deck costs 0-3 mana.
