Ground Seal + splinterfright
Asked by Age 12 years ago
Hey i have a deck built around Splinterfright and Golgari Grave-Troll i was wondering if having a Ground Seal would help protect my graveyard from being removed. which i'm sure it would, however i'm a little confused at exactly what my interactions would look like now. how about kessig cage breakers? does that stop me from getting my wolfs? Can i not flashback my Gnaw to the Bone ?
You can still flash cards back; Ground Seal clearly says "target" which flashback does not deal with. You're graveyard is not safe in any way though...I could still knock it out with a Nihil Spellbomb since it does not target cards in your graveyard. It is the same way Wrath of God can destroy a Dungrove Elder

It's worth saying that all spells that remove entire graveyards from the game in Standard target that graveyard's controller, and none of the cards in it.
Sure, Ground Seal stops the rogue Cremate , but card:Tormod's Crypt, Rakdos Charm , and Rest in Peace will still seal the deal.

Ground Seal is there for Snapcaster Mage . It doesn't work, though.

Witchbane Orb will protect you from card:Tormod's Crypt and Rakdos Charm , but not Cremate or Rest in Peace

A spell or ability only targets something if it specifically uses the word target. Effects can affect something without targeting it. Gnaw to the Bone , Splinterfright , Golgari Grave-Troll , and Kessig Cagebreakers all work with Ground Seal out.
