Which Boros EDH General do I choose?
Commander (EDH) forum

I was looking through my binders and noticed that i have a whole bunch of really good R/W cards that im not using. So i figured, why not make an EDH goodstuff deck. The only problem i'm having is who do i choose as my commander. My first thought was Aurelia, the Warleader, but i also have other really good legendary creatures, such as Gisela, Blade of Goldnight, Anax and Cymede, Iroas, God of Victory, and bassandra, battle seraph, so any suggestions on who i should use? Who is better? Who is better for multiplayer? and who has the best chance of me winning lol?!

Gisela and Aurelia are both pretty great, both decks play pretty similar games. I'd totally recommend both for aggressive builds.
Brion Stoutarm is also pretty amazing, he helps push through damage in clogged up board states. Also is much cheaper to cast than the other two I mentioned.
Also if you are doing the equipment route, Jor Kadeen, the Prevailer is the strongest option. Probably my favorite Boros commander due to the ridiculous board states he can make.

I think it depends on your meta. My experience playing against Gisela, Blade of Goldnight or Aurelia, the Warleader in igher level games online involve praying they aren't countered or removed, and sighing deeply when they immediately are. Iroas, God of Victory seems almost always more fun to play, and i've seen Anax and Cymede work.. it's unassuming nature lets you creep up on people. But Iroas, God of Victory would be my boros build.
Unless... you wanted to go pure fun; then build a deck filled with Ball Lightnings with Brion Stoutarm at the head.

Iroas is a good choice for general. He's indestructible and makes your aggro horde essentially unblockable. Win moar.

I once lost to a Tajic, Blade of the Legion Voltron deck. The big thing it did was stack his triggers with multiple attack phases for exact lethal in just 2 phases. It also board wiped a lot to abuse his indestructibility. I liked it a lot...
...except for the fact that I was the first to lose to it in the first commander game I played in.

My vote goes to either Agrus Kos, Wojek Veteran or Jor Kadeen, the Prevailer. Both are swarm-oriented, but one uses artifacts while the other uses red creatures and extra combat steps.

I have a Gisela, Blade of Goldnight deck and I am quite confident with it. Nonetheless i really depends on your meta... Getting Gisela stolen or destroyed every time it gets in the game can be really frustrating. In addition a turn 3 Gisela is a heavy target on your head...(that is why I have a lot of blue hate cards like Price of Glory + Defense Grid ) If I had the money to do another similar deck I'd take Aurelia, the Warleader because it is way faster. You also have the option of adding in a 3rd color, but making it R/W dominant, there are generals like Gahiji, Honored One, who could fit in a theme along with the 3 aforementioned angels, and isn't very common. Also Shu Yun, the Silent Tempest, would work with those cards.
I really like the card Gisela, but I don't think of her as a general, something about what she does just doesn't seem right. I think it's because every time she gets cast someone is going to immediately try to remove her, and the idea of basing a strategy upon having ways to keep Gisela on the board doesn't seem fun.
I think the strategy for Aurelia would be similar to Gisela, but she'd get a little less hate.
I like the idea of Basandra, Battle Seraph a bit more and have often considered building a deck with her. Maybe building a bit of a pillow fort, and then making people attack, so they either have to attack your opponent or use mana to attack you. Another plus, is that you don't see many Basandra decks out there, and you can include Gisela and Aurelia into that deck no prob.

I prefer Tajic, Blade of the Legion due to his indestructibility and battalion ability. its fairly easy to get battalion with white weenies, soldier tribal, or tokens swarming the board. Adding a haste to the creatures that ETB with Fervor can speed up the game and put pressure. In addition you can add Iroas, God of Victory Odric, Master Tactician Aurelia, the Warleader to help push through damage.

Definitely Iroas, God of Victory now that tuck is gone. I recommend True Conviction and Fumiko the Lowblood off the top of my head for him.

Gisela, Aurelia and Iroas are all really good and should be in the 99 if they're not the commander. Gisela is SUPER strong for a burn/aggro oriented game, but she's relatively weak against combo/control because of her high cost. Aurelia closes out games by herself, but requires a board state before you cast her to be relevant. Iroas is hard to remove and swings HARD, but also requires a board state to get going. Beyond that, it's really your choice, I think that Gisela is probably the strongest, so long as you protect her, but Aurelia and Iroas both have merits.
