What are the chances Door to Nothingness is banned in Commander?

Just curious :-). Interested in people's thoughts.
Considering the fact that Door to Nothingness has been out for 8 years already with only minimal play, I foresee it receiving no further play.
And you don't have to ban unplayed cards.

Tooth and Nail is worse.
If you're really want to bet on what gets banned on commander, I'd put my money on Worldfire.

Seconded. Trying to win with Door to Nothingness is WAY harder to pull off than the banned Coalition Victory .
With Door, you have to draw/tutor for it in a deck of 99 cards, it has to stick around after you play it until the card untaps, you need 2 mana of each color (10 mana total), and then, if you do manage to make someone lose... chances are you can't easily do it again. And since most EDH games are multiplayer you're going to have quite a tough time making your other opponents lose too.
If you can get infinite mana and bring back Door to the field multiple times in a single turn while your opponents are tapped out or otherwise can't do anything to stop you, then sure, you can win. But there are far easier ways of winning.

Yeah, Tooth and Nail into Primeval Titan and Blightsteel Colossus , fetching Kessig Wolf Run is a lot more detrimental than just playing some Artifact your opponents will all vie to destroy before your next turn.

I like to cast Tooth and Nail for Sakura-Tribe Elder and Yavimaya Elder . It really confuses people.

Tooth and Nail into Triskelion and Mikaeus, the Unhallowed is the current combo.

Door works in slivers the best IMO but by the time you go infinite you also have infinite unblockable creatures of infinite size so I'd say that it wouldn't be your normal win con.

How would Triskelion work at all with Mikaeus, the Unhallowed ? Mikaeus pumps other non-Human by +1/+1 static. Triskelion would be a 1/1 after taking all of its counters off.

Ping something else once then ping himself twice he dies with no counters rinse and repeat.
June 29, 2012 6:17 p.m.
Ah. I thought he dealt damage to another creature or player. That makes perfect sense now.

Also, triskelion with no counters would be a 2/2 not a 1/1

Best thing about that combo is if they can't counterspell it it's nearly impossible to stop because you can just respond with comboing out again. If I play both and you cast doom blade on triskelion after I combo out I can respond with the combo again. Stifleing one of the self pings is really the only way I can think of stopping it as he won't kill himself with ping damage.
Thoughts?

This is why I run Sudden Spoiling , Wipe Away , Trickbind , and Word of Seizing .

@zandl You notice every single card you listed came from Time Spiral? Just saying :D
June 29, 2012 6:40 p.m.
Yeah. That's because Split Second is amazing. In EDH, it's not just a luxury; it's a necessity.
June 29, 2012 6:41 p.m.
Yeah I Failed to realize it was a reprint. I also got excited thinking about the tons of ways I've seen or made 10 mana out by turn 5. But the Mikaeus, the Unhallowed /Triskelion combo is one of the easier combos to disrupt. You can respond to the undying trigger and exile their graveyard or the triskelion with card:Tormod's Crypt or Stonecloaker or anything like that. Or exile/destroy mikaeus in response to the undying trigger.

Whats with the hate on the Door to Nothingness ? I personally love that card and have one a few games using it, without actually running a true Sunburst Deck lol I ran W/U/B and used other Artifacts to fill in the blanks, it worked well in my deck running Mirrodin Block cards. Now I know to each their own. As for it being banned or useful in EDH, no not really, you need to build around it if your to use this card.

cant see worldfire being banned it was made for edh

I think Worldfire will certainly be banned in commander simply because it's a functional reprint of Sway of the Stars , which IS banned in commander. I don't think it being a red spell will underpower it significantly.

Sway of the Stars is incredibly different from Worldfire . Because you actually have a hand after Sway resolves, you use all the mana you floated in your pool to blow out the table.

Really funny with Koth of the Hammer 's emblem. Draw mountain kill.
July 21, 2012 1:07 p.m.
If anything, Worldfire is far stronger than Sway of the Stars . It will surely be banned.
July 23, 2012 1:57 p.m.
I see your point there; however, cards are banned not only because of extreme power but also to some degree because of extreme gameplay annoyance. Many bad things could easily happen with Worldfire , even if you don't have a hand. Library manipulation would create power. Suspend will get even more annoying haha. Plus, I have the feeling no one likes everyone's hard work to get to where each player is utterly in the game to just not matter at all and be erased...just saying it's possible people will just hate the card out of commander

Zero. It can only be played in a 5-color deck and is expensive to activate, meaning an infinite mana combo and recursion are the only ways to abuse it. At that point you'd have better luck winning another way.
