Rata-tat-tat

Modern Tribal

Aiokii

Maybeboard

Creature (2)

Although appearing at first glance very linear and basic, this deck filled to the gills with complex card interactions, surprises and is a very disruptive. It has quite a few discard effects as well as board control. The key to playing this deck to it's best is getting your small rats into play, attacking with them unblocked, swapping the attacker with a Ninjitsu rat with extra ability and repeat.

There are 34 rats which is more than usual which will help you to attack with at least one rat unblocked. Of those in the deck most are small two drops that can be played quickly and efficiently with some sort of deterrent to block like deathtouch or fear. Among those is the Ravenous Rat that when played, forced a discard from the opponent. this is a prime Ninjitsu target since playing it out of your hand nets you yet another discard effect.

Remember to ninjitsu rats into play as the effect is needed. Also keep in mind that returning a ninja rat to your hand with Ninjitsu will allow you to replay that creature on the attack next turn with even more effects like forcing additional discards and creature kill. Chaining out creatures and returning to your hand will not only leave your opponent questioning what rat will be played next, it will also combo off Door of Destinies, making your small rat army into behemoths worth of a New York City sewer.

Also playing a part in the deck is Pack Rat. This little guy can make copies of himself and increase in power thanks to other rats you may have in play. Considering that more than half your deck is rats, making this a giant juggernaut or multiple Pack Rat token juggernauts isn't difficult.

As a finisher, Corrupt will likely be drawn sometime in the game. If for some reason your deck stalls out or faces a board wipe, this spell can put a final blow to any game. If your opponent gets mad about the game ending spell, just tell them that cheese is necessary in any deck involving that many rats.

The deck is currently just $37 and easily purchasable.
