A guy by the name of John Giroir, in Charleston, WV, taught me how to build an effective deck during Revised.

He was the player at the little shop I drove to to play on weekends. And he was gracious and did everything he could to help new players. I wish I still had the Life Chisels and Mana Drains he found me... but I do still have the Legends Chain Lightnings he scrounged up for me. I'm never letting those go.

So, I decided to rebuild the deck using the cards I still have from that time. The only addition I made after we tweaked the deck was putting in Incinerate when Ice Age came out.

Open to tweaks, please!

  • I go back and forth on mainboarding the Factories.

  • Open to different sideboard cards/numbers.

  • Deck can't contain anything newer than Ice Age.

  • Before Incinerates, I mainboarded the Factories or something else. For a while, I had Erhnam Djinns in it. I even put Serendib Efreets in it at one point (I miss my Volcanic Islands now...). So, absolutely open to another vintage creature or 2, but these are just the originals I still have around from v2 of the deck.

  • Yeah, it can only do lethal by turn 6, which is too slow for competitive decks nowadays, but it's still fun to play =)
