Might need to run Prismatic Ending just to fight off Sanctifier en-Vec , which seems like an even more annoying Auriok Champion !

Metropolis39 honestly it's interesting. This deck has a very low curve, so you could potentially grab something more valuable than you're giving up in some situations. Sometimes you just need a land, you know?

nUKe13 noticing the absence of a few things though overall it looks good. This deck's evolved a lot eh? I notice no Young Pyro, Swiftspear, Manamorphose, Unholy Heat, or Kroxxa.

What's the wincon? Dragon's Rage Channeler? (He's amazing btw. Practically red Delver).

I know I haven’t posted in a long, LONG time, but maybe I can explain why I chose certain cards and what changes I’ve made

Metropolis39 - I appreciate you diligently working with me to help the deck grow and adapt. March of Reckless Joy was a consensus of other Mardu Pyro players and myself discussing draw potential. Since the deck was leaning more and more , it made sense to lean on it as a good card filter/threat finder. But, it definitely came at a cost of being particularly devastating if countered. Hopefully there comes along some decent card draw like we once enjoyed with Faithless Looting. So, yeah, March was a feeble attempt to fill the void left by Looting.

YamishiTheWickedOne - also, thanks for your enthusiasm as well as I’ve been working on the deck. Even if the techs are suboptimal by meta standards, I appreciate you trying to see from my POV. For win-cons, the deck has always tried to 1) grind through and dismantle opponents’ game plan, 2) go wide with tokens, and 3) swing with creatures and burn spells. So, the deck doesn’t really rely on one specific threat sticking (like Kroxa, Titan of Death's Hunger. That being said, I was wrong about excluding (at least 1) Kroxa. The utility it provides the deck, from discard, to burn, to clock, to giant-ass beat-stick is really what this deck needs.

I’ve been experimenting with returning to the roots of Young Pyromancer and Manamorphose, and I’ve been testing out Monastery Mentor-based builds. It definitely feels more glass cannon with Mentor, but when it pops off, it’s insane!

Thank y’all for your patience and dedication to the build. I greatly appreciate it.

The first time I saw this deck at a tournament I loved it. It had so many answers and ways to attack the opponent. Playing against it was very tough. This version looks a bit more durable and quicker without the Liliana of the Veil. Though she is a good card. I’m happy to see it’s still out there and hope it continues to grow and flourish.

Balaam__ - thank you for the upvote! I appreciate the compliment on the primer. I’m constantly trying to keep it updated, even if I haven’t run it in MTGO in a hot minute.

Metropolis39 - I always appreciate your comments. And I hear what you’re saying, and I’ve been on and off Unearth, but honestly, I’ve loved it to for most creatures I typically run, including lately the 2 Titans and Joshua, Phoenix's Dominant  Flip. Seasoned Pyromancer is still basically the best target, but also Magus of the Moon is a close second when the stars align. Worst case scenario, it adds to the mini-cycle theme that a few of the cards in the deck have.

zapyourtumor - thank you for the comment and compliment! Young Pyromancer is definitely one of my favorite creatures, and I get it is not as competitive in modern MtG, but I still love it in a spell heavy build.

Saturn999 - I saw this deck popping up back in 2018/2019 and it was so cool at the time. Really felt like honest Magic, and reminds me of simpler times. I’ve seen builds through the years that run Liliana of the Veil (and various other planeswalkers), but most of the time Mardu Pyro tends to focus on instants/sorceries. But that also might just be my personal bias.

Cloudy2024 - I appreciate your suggestions, and I have considered focusing the deck on a more Mardu/Boros Energy style. I’ve personally liked the goodstuffs build that this trends towards. I am hesitant to lose the reactive midrange nature of the deck (which I enjoy more) than the proactive aggro nature of Energy builds. But it is a valid thought!
