I would suggest maindecking one Spellskite and dropping a Solemn Simulacrum. I would also cut Cyclonic Rift from the side. A 1-of in the main deck is sufficient. That leaves two slots open. I would put in either Spell Pierce or Negate in one of those slots and Echoing Truth in the other.

I have yet to play against a Merfolk deck, but because it's an aggro deck, I would think that your best option is to go for mass bounce like AEtherize. I primarily only side in Dismember for big threats like Taz, Rhino, and Goyf. Merfolk grows, so a bounce effect like AEtherize Time Walks them in essence.

buildingadeckThank you so much for your advise. Here is what im thinking. Move the Cyclonic Rift to the mainboard. And move a Spellskite mainboard. I would then drop both Solemn Simulacrum and add a Negate and a third Dismember to the sideboard. Echoing Truth seems ok... but just not good enough to warrant a spot in the sideboard. I feel as if I might just want a third Dismember. Does this seem appropriate?

buildingadeck Or i could add both spellskite and drop both Simulacrums and then just keep the Rift in sideboard... idk

buildingadeck what does spellskite add to the deck? and is the rift really going to make a huge difference?

Spellskite is a great option in Game 1 against burn, infect, Twin, and a slew of other decks. Echoing Truth is infinitely better than Cyclonic Rift against Twin and tokens. Many lists don't even run Rift in the 75 at all. The problem is that it's mana cost is too high for what it does, which is why it is a one-of that can save your life, but I can't imagine a situation in which I'd run 2 of them.

buildingadeck how about this... In the mainboard: 0 Solemn Simulacrum 1 Spellskiteand 1 Cyclonic Rift then in the sideboard: 3 Dismember 1 Spellskite and 2 Negate. Is this reasonable? Maybe only 2 Dismember and then 1 Echoing Truth in sideboard?

Ah, I didn't notice you didn't have Rift in the main board. I prefer only two Dismember, but I've seen many people run more copies, so that can work.

Would AEtherspouts be better than AEtherize? I think the place in deck effect is more powerful than the bounce effect. But the real question is is it worth that extra colored mana? I think the multiple Time Ebb effect is worth it.

Coinman1863: I've seen lists that run 1 AEtherspouts and 1 AEtherize in the board, but I prefer two AEtherize because sometimes, the difference in a turn can mean the game, and AEtherspouts might just lose the game because it comes down T5 and not T4.

Coinman1863 thank you for your suggestion. I will try it out but I do think that the double blue, extra mana, and lack of card draw that Repeal offers is to big of a drawback. AEtherize is better I think because I'm siding it in against aggro decks and the turn I can get it out really does matter.

Honestly, there's very little to be said about this deck. It's almost identical to all of the other blue Tron decks played (especially Marco Cammilluzzi's winning PTQ deck last year), and all of the differences have already been suggested and/or discarded.

I don't play this archetype (though a couple of my friends do), and they tend to finish with eldrazi. But whatever works for you!

From suggestions above, I personally would still go for AEtherspouts over AEtherize, only because it effectively prevents your opponent from drawing new threats for a long time (while an aggro deck might be able to recast many threatening creatures from hand, and even benefit off of the extra ETBs, if Aetherize is used). But you've played the deck, so I trust your judgment.

I read the title, thought, "Mono-U Tron?", clicked the link, and was correct. +1 for perfectly describing the deck in a brief sentence. Plus it looks pretty solid, so +1 anyway!

how will you beat hexproof enchantment? this is one of the only things you didnt write what you will do against. that could be very dangerious considering it is a pretty common tier 1.

car, Boggles is a very bad matchup for me i'd assume because it is so aggro and i cant get rid of them with removal if they have their hexproof guy. I have not played against it yet but I will make a SB guide for it when I do.

ok. good to know. spellskite is very good here, and you should have 4 in sideboard. also erase is very good here.

September 16, 2015 9:04 p.m.

Actually, I could see Bogles being doable between AEtherize (auto win) and bounces + counters to stall and stop their most potent enchantments. It'll be hard, but not impossible.

Looks good!

I've seen some lists run the buyback scry 3 card, but I don't remember it off the top of my head. But it looks great.

Also, how did u put the image in he background? I wanna do that with my Grixis delver deck, but I don't know how to do it.

If you have a reply, mention me in the comment or post on my page!

SwaggyMcSwagglepants thanks. I know the scry card you be talking about. It is just not very good surprisingly. Id rather have a counter spell. As for the Backround ill post on your page its pretty cool.

September 16, 2015 9:33 p.m.

Well, with counterspells they shouldn't be able to win 3rd turn. But yeah, that can happen. Also, if you Aetherize the first creature, they can sometimes still come back from it, but hopefully you can get tron by then and win.

SwaggyMcSwagglepants unfortunately I cant copy and paste the instructions on your home page because it wont show it. If I think of a way how to bypass this I will tell you. Sorry
