3-0 Standard Tourney —June 16, 2014

won a 3-0 standard tourney at my local shop. Wasn't a large turnout, but enough to play a 3 round tourney.

Round 1: 2-1 Naya Heroic

Game 1: Win He came out the gates with ap lagona-band trailblazer.. I questioned it as a joke in my head and he proceeded to make it 9 power on turn two. Well races are exactly what I want and with everything tapped out, I returned the favour with an 8/8 Ash Zealot. He was already hurt from shocking himself, so I finished him next turn with a ghor-clan rampager alpha strike.

Game 2: Loss He pulled a turn 3 14 power heroic boosted guy, one of his several nut draws. I had him dead the following turn, but wow a turn 3 overkill against a race deck.

Game 3: Win Game 3 was practically a mirror of the first game, I just had to Ghor-Clan Rampager over his additional blocker for the win.

Round 2: 2-0 Mono-White Heroic/Lifelink

Game 1: Win

She won the roll, and was playing some strange un-used lifegain cards. Then a typical Phalanx Leader into Dauntless Onslaught for some serious damage putting me to 7. I was able to alpha strike an 18 point attack using Prophetic Flamespeaker + Giant Growth + Ghor-Clan Rampager when she tapped out on her attack. for a swift turn 4 win.

Game 2: Win

Game two was similar.. this time I had a turn 2 Burning-Tree Emissary equipped with a Madcap Skills... I got her pretty low and she assumed I would pump it, but when I was able to attack with both the BTE and a Prophetic Flamespeaker, she double blocked the emmissary and I just Titan Strengthed the PFS for a clean win.

Round 3: 2-1 GW Constellation Pillow Fort

Game 1: Win

Game one was going swimmingly, he was very low hp.. however he was quickly gaining life with 2 Nyx-Fleece Ram on board. I could not attack as I was only drawing creatures. He resolved a Sphere of Safety, thankfully I had 9 devotion and a Nykthos, Shrine to Nyx to pay for 3 attackers. I kept applying pressure, he kept building his board.. but I was sitting on a Fanatic of Mogis in hand. I knew he couldnt interract with it, so I was just building devotion to just kill him with it. I then drew a Dictate of the Twin Gods. I then simply hit nykthos, dropped the dictate and hit him for 28 damage to the face for overkill.

Game 2: Loss

Game 2 I had him practically dead at like 5 hp, then he just had continual card advantage with Eidolon of Blossoms & Mana Bloom while I could risk an attack. I had 3x Titan Strength & Armed / Dangerous in hand and a Ghor-Clan Rampager in play.. However I could not afford the mana to attack let alone cast all the spells to do a silly amount of damage. I conceded and hit game 3

Game 3: Win

Game 3 I was running away with the game, but then one turn he had 5 mana in play and at risk of potentially dying.. I said out loud... uhoh, 5 mana... 5 cards in hand, nothing cast?... Well I attacked with everything anyway, knowing I had no pumps. Bluffing a rampager or growth or strength... He played Fated Intervention. his two tokens and additional blocker killed everything I had. It became a top deck war, I eventually got a Prophetic Flamespeaker online and widdled him down. I had a Destructive Revelry in hand for his Sphere of Safety and a Fanatic of Mogis to finish the job.
