First time playing with a full table —Oct. 27, 2016

Well that was a success! This deck runs very well as built, but playing it against other people identified a few weak points:

  1. Board wipes. I need at least one in my starting hand. My early game is slooooow so I need a well-timed Damnation to slow things down and let me move my game along. Pestilence is by far the best removal I have but when one guy drops a Dissipation Field I wished I had kept my Decree of Pain in here.

  2. Spot removal: Using my planeswalkers works and using eldrazi works but dang it if I could use some early game spot removal that is cheeeeeeap. What I have now is flavorful, and thankfully

  3. Who to take out: I really love all the cards in here... they all do something and most of it is good. I could take some suggestions on what to pull out to streamline it.

So this is how the game play went:

Game 1: not enough black mana to do what I needed to do. Wouldn't have been a problem but I was playing a mono green elves and mono white soldiers that made their weenies big quick. Since a lot of my card draw also makes me lose life Moonlight Bargain I was stuck and quickly eliminated.

Game 2: Had a Damnation in my opening hand. Spent the first few turns mana ramping with my Burnished Hart while everyone else built up their board state. Cast the Damnation and reset things, then popped out kalitas and a Crypt Ghastfoil. mana doubling is great and I was able to pop out Ugin and start mass removing board threats with his exile ability.

The mono blue player had a ton of "put back in your hand" but that was fine for me as I was casting Ulamog, the Infinite Gyre and was able to bounce back pretty quickly as most of my mana ramp was land tutoring.

Between Ugin's exile ability, Kalitas' exile ability, and the eldrazi I kept dropping... the game went my way. One person rage scooped after used Pestilence to board wipe then swung at him with Ulamog causing him to sac lands. The other two quickly realized it was not going to go much better for them and after waiting a turn for an answer they conceded as well.

What I like:

I like that this deck has threats at every stage. Kalitas is a big threat early on and fairly cheap (turn two Dark Ritual) but without the sac engine in place causing others to sac too he is only a half threat. Late game I have a lot of fatties that are able to reap destruction wholesale. I ended up dumping a bunch of creatures into my graveyard at one point to Living Death which was very enjoyable.

Fun deck to play, could definitely be streamlined so I'll probably work on that a little then bling it out.

I'd throw in a Expedition Map, Triskelion, and Exsanguinate. The map is for your lands that you want to see early every game (urborg, coffers, etc), Triskelion so you can search up it and Mikaeus and kill everyone at the table in a turn, and exsanguinate allows you to use your mana to kill an opponent out of nowhere and get out of kill range at the same time. Like the deck.

thanks Red_X Expedition map and exsanguinate fer sure! Triskelion? Not sure how that does anything... are you thinking of the right card?

Mikaeus, the Unhallowed + Triskelion kills everyone at the table. With both on the table:

  1. Remove all but one +1/+1 counter from Triskelion to ping your opponent.
  2. Remove the last +1/+1 counter from Triskelion to ping itself, killing itself.
  3. Mikaeus, the Unhallowed gives Triskelion undying, so it returns to the battlefield with 4 +1/+1 counters.
  4. Repeat step 1-3 until everyone is dead.

Sorry, you have to ping Triskelion twice because of the anthem effect. Same idea.

Ahhhhhha I see what you did there. Very fun! Definitely a good idea.

What about for removal? I feel like I could have some different removal and that would be a good thing.

Some combination of sweepers and removal from the below link should work.

i would trim your land count to 38 lands. also i think there are a couple creatures that i feel that can be easily replaced in your list. let me know if you need budget friendly recommendations.

Haha yeah the lands were just thrown in as filler on here until I replace them with things. I was thinking of 37-38 lands. I just put in an order for some legendary black lands so will add them on.

Definitely interested in hearing people's takes on cuts, but I do enjoy the flavor.
