Cards such as Perimeter Captain and Wall of Reverence hold the line and gain you life, whilst your the win-conditions such as Serra Ascendant and Archangel of Thune win the game in the long run. It is worth mentioning that Serra Ascendant is completely broken in 2HG since you start at 30 life.

“For you I am Benevolent.”

“For you I am Yours.”
