Well hey, maybe you'll like my other idea when we're done here. =) I totally understand the "geeking out." I'm pretty psyched that you're helping me. Oh, and feel free to test run this against whatever you want after it's finished. =)

Ooooh...@_@. How did I miss that one? Yoink!

Hmm..not sure about the Increasing Savagery , but I'll keep it in mind. I think I'll need more creatures or token makers first.

How good is the Level up mechanic in EDH? I've never encountered it before.

In EDH? Not sure have not really used to many but when it was standard it was the shisnit

Looks like something I'd have to build around, but that's just my first impression. Definitely a mana sink though.

Not really it's just another tool in your tool kit not something you need to or want to build around

Ranger's Path can get your Temple Garden and another forest out at the same time

Oh but as far as "level up" Hedron-Field Purists and Kabira Vindicator are the other 2 I like to use (in white anyway) Guardian Seraph , True Conviction and Sudden Disappearance would help too

you're not going to want other ajanis in the deck, because you won't be able to have multiple on the field at a time.

Knight-Captain of Eos could be fun, perhaps doing a soldier theme with ajani would be fun? he helps build, searches for elspeth, garruks, and soldiers. lets you use some of garruks mass creature buff and his creature searches, elspeth creates tokens and the newest elspeth gives you her awesome emblem.

Good idea. =) The deck definitely need to be creature heavy at the least.

I really like the idea though, I'll definitely be making my own deck to fit the format once my finals are over, and I'll probably force my friends to do the same. seems interesting enough. You mind laying out all of your specifications for allowed/not allowed sets in the description? post-lorwyn expert expansions and core sets?

Also, any intentions of following any ban lists? perhaps just the standard commander ban-list until things get more refined? Or will this be different enough that the over powered cards there won't be as OP here?

also, for running lots of creatures like this, Akroma's Memorial seems like a nice addition, and adds protection vs B/R, which will probably be your hardest two to fight with the most ways to remove planeswalkers. at least it'll keep your creatures on the board.

I think the new format should be called "plainswalker"..... just a random thought I had last night

May 11, 2014 9:21 p.m.

Kozelek says... #16

And you should only be allowed 1 of your plainswalker. So if you run Ajani, Mentor of Heroes you can't run Ajani Goldmane but you can run all the elspiths and garruls you want as an example

Plainswalker would be confusing because plainswalk is the ability for can't be blocked if defending player controls a plains,

Planeswalker would be confusing because the word already refers to man things within the game.

I'll update my description to better outline the baseline rules for the Format.

Also, I'm erring toward treating planeswalkers like how legendary creatures can be used in regular EDH. The part I'm not sure about is either you may have one of each uniquely named planeswalker or if they should be limited by their subtype (ex. there can only be one Ajani, Garruk, Jace, Elspeth, etc. in any deck).

I see two arguments in this case:

The first allows a bit more flexibility since a person could have more planeswalkers in a given deck.

The second feels better though and really adds to the specialness of planeswalkers.

What do you think?

Additionally, if given enough compelling evidence in favor of it, the cards from the Planeswalker Duel Decks and/or Multiplayer sets may be added. This is only if they don't cause a detrimental effect on the Format as a whole.

Ok how about instead of EDH (elder dragon highlander) cause we all know (well I don't know if you do or not but I'm going to say you do) that that format was named/created around the first plainswalker Nicol Bolas and his 4 brothers so if we are not using elder dragons we say NPH (new plainswalker highlander) cause we are using the new plainswalkers cause I think NPC (new plainswalker commander) is not good....well it has potential but not what I think we want, or PCS (plainswalker commander singleton) hmmmmm I don't know I'm just "spit-balling" here

Kozelek says... #22

I say 1 ajani if that's your commander

May 11, 2014 10:56 p.m.

Kozelek says... #23

And allow anything that was FIRST printed in "commander" decks but not reprints

May 11, 2014 10:59 p.m.

asasinater13 says... #24

I would think one-of your commander and allow multiples of others

May 11, 2014 10:59 p.m.

asasinater13 says... #25

thats one-of your commanders type then multiple of other walker types
