Faeries revisited —June 21, 2018

I decided I've been missing this deck and came back to my list to see what I would change after a year of consistent modern FNMs.

My main change is dropping the "bad cards", things that are clunky or often dead draws in longer games. This meant dropping Mana Leak Go for the Throat (Affinity and other artifact crap makes this kind of suck) and Doom Blade (not sure why I thought this was ever good. I also dropped a couple Thoughtseize and replaced them with maindeck Collective Brutality (I feel like this card is nuts in faeries).

I upped the Vendilion Cliques to 3 and made Spell Snare a main deck card (we'll see if this works). Vendilion Clique is arguably the best card in the deck, playing at least three seems like a requirement. I also brought the number of lands up to 25 so we are more consistently hitting land drops and I replaced 2 of the Mutavault with colored sources. I want to be sure that mana screw is never stopping us from casting a Cryptic Command or Vendilion Clique. I also dropped Faerie Conclave as I just think it's too slow and we have enough tapped lands as is with three Creeping Tarpit.

Out of the sideboard I dropped Batterskull (this will never be good without Stoneforge, and it's terrible with Fatal Push being a thing) and things like Countersquall (this card is much worse than just playing things like negate). I made some other meta related changes, but I'm sure there will be more sideboard changes after I play a couple FNMs.

Taking this to FNM this week to see how all these changes and my increased experience fare.
