Sorry hit post too soon. I'd add Teferi's Curse. Does the same as Ephemerate but keeps doing it.

Epicurus I appreciate the suggestions! Great ones for sure :) also I pair Teferi's Curse with Defense Grid , so that it mainly effect when people cast on my turn as a buffer. Thinking of various ways to keep myself safe with this deck because I become a target rather fast lol

Have you considered auras that go onto The Chain Veil like Power Artifact, Curator's Ward, Living Artifact, Relic Ward, Teferi's Curse, or Viridian Harvest just to name a few.
Her ability is to untap all enchanted permanents so if you can cheese out an enchantment onto the chain veil she will be able to untap it. While yes she can "make" one with the -1 ability to generate a mask, her -7 mills for 7 and puts all enchantments back into play. You should have been going plus on mana at that point to recast her and from there you can with with Laboratory Maniac or Walking Ballista using cards like Crop Sigil or Holistic Wisdom or any other gy recursion spell to get them to hand and win when you cast them

First of all, does Teferi's Curse phase out with the permanent it enchants? If so, the rest of this question is irrelevant. Assuming it doesn't, if Teferi's Curse leaves the battlefield while the enchanted permanent is phased out, will the permanent phase in again?

With the recent updates (Rule 4), you might want to use lands like City of Brass and Mana Confluence.
You can replace lands that requires you to sacrifice lands, or comes into play tapped as they can sometimes keep you from playing your commander as early as possible.
Also, Cavern of Souls will help you deal against counterspells.
Lastly, have you ever considered the use of cards that grant [i]phasing[/] to permanents? Cards like Teferi's Curse, Cloak of Invisibility and Vanishing can substantially reduce your commander's drawback.
