Thundering Mightmare

Creature — Horse Spirit

Soulbond (You may pair this with another unpaired creature when either enters the battlefield. They remain paired for as long as you control both of them.)

As long as this is paired with another creature, they both have "Whenever an opponent casts a spell, put a +1/+1 counter on this creature."

Some general thoughts:

  • Your deck currently isn't Modern-legal, both Thundering Mightmare and Sol Ring aren't legal in the format.

  • You want to get your deck down to 60 cards. 83 is a LOT over this number, and will make your deck much less reliable and much clumsier to play.

  • You also want to be playing mostly playsets (4-ofs) of cards. At the moment you're running almost entirely 1-ofs and 2-ofs, which will lead to a really inconsistent deck. A good tip for new players is to pick 9 cards, and run playsets of each of these (making 36 cards) alongside 24 lands (for a 60 card deck).

  • Your mana curve is currently far too high, and will lead to some really clumsy/slow turns. Modern decks typically can't run more than 4 cards (1 playset) costing 4 mana, and run nothing above this. Going from the above example of picking 9 cards, you want their mana costs to look something like 1,1,1,2,2,2,3,3,4.

  • You currently have very little in the way of interaction (killspells). Just letting your opponent do what they want is almost always a recipe for disaster (it means you just lose to every deck faster than you). I'd suggest having around 2 playsets (8 cards) of killspells.

You forgot to make a "goaded with the sauce" joke! 8c

Butt serially, seems fun. Also seems like you should have more Fog effects and should consider Predatory Hunger, Thundering Mightmare, Dragonlair Spider, Emberwilde Captain, and maybe Tahngarth, First Mate for shits n giggles.

Love seeing the SNC legends getting some love. Mr. Orfeo is no exception. It looks a lot like my Ziatora list! Definitely gonna grab some inspiration. :)

One thing I did that you can consider are the Managorger Hydra effects- you get some absolutely massive creatures this way for very cheap! Albeit it takes a turn or two around the table, but I find these super effective in dealing a ton of damage!

Thundering Mightmare, Forgotten Ancient, and Taurean Mauler are all the similar effects to the hydra that I've found so far!
