Ultra rare uncommon?

I have opened close to 100 packs, so almost 300 uncommons. I have pulled 3 Masterpiece Inventions but strangely I've only pulled 1 Filigree Familiar. Every other uncommon I have 4+ of yet this little fox has eluded me for the most part. Anyone else noticed this? I feel like every set there's one uncommon that is not found at normal uncommon distribution, and likewise some rares found more often (Paradoxical Outcome x6??). Just curious if it's just a weird artifact of chance or if there really are less of certain cards in a specific rarity class printed...

Aether Hub is my Rare Uncommon. Out of about 64 packs, I didn't open a single one.

I bought probably 80 packs of khans and only managed to pull one Monastery Swiftspear so yeah they have more common cards and more rare cards all in the same rarity slot

The odds aren't any different, but this set in particular I've heard of and even experienced similar results. After the Prereleases, my friend and I had collectively opened more than 110 packs through winnings and our sealed pools. We hadn't opened a single Voltaic Brawler out of any of it, and we only opened 1 Arborback Stomper. The fact that you aren't guaranteed any certain cards and the sheer number of people playing MTG means that because of probability SOMEONE will likely end up opening 0 (or 1) copies of Filigree Familiar. You just won the lottery, much like I did with my two 'chase' uncommons.

metalmagic okay that totally settles it then, as I have pulled 7 Voltaic Brawler and 6 Arborback Stomper. Probability is certainly an interesting thing. I wonder if it is in (4 2-letter words starting with "I"!) any way related to geography. I am in the SouthWest US.

shadow63, totally that was the set I first really noticed it. Open a ton of product and have playsets of some rares but not certain uncommons.
Simon_Williamson I opened 2 during prerelease and one in the booster box that I always preorder. The whole prerelease weekend only 3 total were opened lol. It's magic! Using magic to acquire Magic. No, I'm just strong in the Force. Owner lets me pick the box I want out of a fresh case and I slowly move my hand above the boxes and feel for warmth. I have to pick out myself, superstition. When I don't I pull shit. Crazy I know but I've got 5 Zendikar Expeditions also that say otherwise:) lol

Jimmy_Chinchila I am buying a box of (the best draft format as far as I'm concerned) Conspiracy: Take The Crown to do some free drafts from. First box I've actually will be purchasing, but I will make sure to blame wizards for the box not having enough chase cards, as I will.

Simon_Williamson Ok but be warned, the draft specific cards in the set can only be used once unless you Cube, and so the 3-5 mythics and 1 foil rare per box could be of those cards. Two of my mythics were Conspiracies. My foil rare was the draft-specific demon. They go for like $0.50 on this side o' the pond

Jimmy_Chinchila I'm making a cub afterward, then next year I'll get an original conspiracy box and add it to the cube, that way the friends of mine who like magic but only enough to draft can always play something.

46 packs,
playsets of at least 5 other rares....
1x Blossoming Defense ... and took two weeks and two stores to find the other 3 that I needed.

This honestly isn't that rare, there are a full 80 uncommons in the set, it makes sense that you only got one copy of an uncommon, you should really have multiple uncommons where you only had one uncommon of, considering 80 (number of uncommons in the set)/300 = 2.66.
The 7 mini-thragtusks is much more rare, however.

I'm pretty sure they print these big sheets of cards, with 1 of each card on it. Therefore, I believe there's always an equal chance of getting any certain card. They don't print one card more than another. You've probably just been unlucky/lucky :)
