eye of the storm RUG

Deck Help forum

I'm trying to piece together a RUG deck with Riku of Two Reflections as a commander that can use Eye of the Storm, and maybe not utterly screw itself over. I'll be throwing things in like Kiln Fiend Nivmagus Elemental and Archetype of Endurance, maybe a whole bunch of counter non creature spell stuff and as many copy effects as I can find. Will this sort of deck work? Any suggestions?

I'd suggest a few extra turn spells, to play mostly instants, as opposed to sorceries, and Trickbind, so if an opponent gets any ideas, you can counter their Eye of the Storm trigger.

The problem I foresee is that you'd have a hard time consistently getting Eye into play. RUG ain't exactly the tutor and recursion colors when it comes to enchantments. Might I suggest Zedruu the Greathearted, Narset, Enlightened Master, or maybe Jeleva, Nephalia's Scourge?

I like Trickbind and those other guys are fun but I don't have any of them. Its ok if the deck doesn't hinge on EotS but I want it to be able to come out on top and spam spells. Having green means I can have all the mana that I need to play the crazy things even if the chaos hasnt started yet. Also Vorinclex, Voice of Hunger is going in too...

You have too many creatures from what I see, and you're not using High Tide or Desperate Ritual.

You have 34 creatures and you're trying to use an instant/sorcery intense enchantment. Tell me if you do pull off a good storm on it, could be intense.

This is my Melek, Izzet Paragon deck that has eye of the storm in it Copy that!. Maybe you'll see something that helps yours.

I realize I'm still over on card count, still trying to cut things down to fit the theme. As for the burst mana, I've tried to avoid stuff like that in the past because they've seemed weaker in edh, but I can see from your list that you can cast them again more often. Honestly I just wasn't sure if they were worth it or not.
