Commander Deck Help forum

I have a "generic" shell of a mono green ramp deck. I have a few ideas which way to take the deck. I know this is subjective but just asking for opinions on whether or not to be that guy and go typical green ramp into eldrazi's or the "land based" theme. By that I mean cards that are / like Dungrove Elder and yes in BOTH versions i play cards like woodall primus Regal Force they arent land based with power/toughness but I know they are just a staple in green so why not. I asked about land based because of simplicity and some what money wise. Plus having a boat load of forest in play by turn 7 or 8 and landing a Rude Awakening entwined with a few already big creatures... to me is just nice. Again ANY thoughts I like both ideas but I want to stick to one or the other so I dont have a deck that is trying to do alot of things at once and it becomes less efficient.

DO you know who you want as your commander? This might help dictate the line of the deck. Because for a landfall list, if you're running Titania, Protector of Argoth as your commander, your deck will look very different to Azusa, Lost but Seeking. And these are both landfall commanders.

But if you're playing Yisan, the Wanderer Bard, you probably don't want a huge amount of high end creatures like Woodfall Primus (who is ok but not a staple). You might only end up running one eight drop which is Craterhoof Behemoth.

And then there's elves, which produce a bunch of mana but is completely different again.

Oh yes sorry I knew i forgot something i do have azusa and my first run at a deck a year ago she was the commander. I'm between azusa and nissa (the one who starts out a creature and flips to a plane's Walker. The only big bomb I'd play in the land based and remember i say land based because of the many cheap bit effect cards with dungrove structure and the fact I play want to play tue nissa that untapped forest and animated forest.

I would consider Baru, Fist of Krosa, he's great in a deck with a ton of forests and green creatures. The grandeur text doesn't work but he makes ramp spells into overruns, which is pretty good. I built a deck with him as the commander once it was cool.

My deck:

Baru, Token Fister

My mono-green stomp-your-ass-into-the-ground deck. Designed to make sure Ghalta, Primal Hunger never costs more than and ramp super quick into her.

I play about 6 planes walkers because of the untap lands and animate forest etc etc... I ramp hard (ish) it's just I kept losing to red green ramp/landfall I dont know if it's my deck or is the red green variant better. Itd the general I'm talking about is the one that gives it self + ×/× equal to number of lands and I keep losing to that

Red/Green landfall gives you a lot of options in that red allows you to turn your landfall effects and big creatures into direct damage. That being said, you should be able to do decently with a mono-green deck.

If you are keen to specifically leverage ladfall effects, Titania, Protector of Argoth is probably going to be your best bet in mono-green. She not only provides ramp/recursion of your lands but also is a win condition in and of herself since she makes 5/3 tokens. She is also sup strong in that you can run a bunch of land denial effects to shut your opponents down, all while building up your boardstate.

If you’re going to have lots of mana at your disposal I would recommend one of my favorite closers: Hurricane. If you’re ahead of your opponents in life, it’s super enjoyable to wrap everything up with a self-destructive bang. Having said that, I lose a lot... ;p

I have no problem ramping with him and some times over him. He just is able to play more lands per turn and hos general by itself when its given trample is what gets me. His other creatures I can keep up with and out block and deal damage to him with...its just some times he able to cut right through me with trample and double strike with general damage.

Maybe you'll like this. I built a cycle of 6 decks - one of each color - that are somewhat viable but casual. I put in cards that represent the best the color to me. No combo, no intended degenerate synergies. Just good old fun magic with decent cards.

I would naturally advise for the non-Eldrazi version but it'll depend on your playgroup and what you wanna do with the deck at the end of the day.

I dont tend to play eldrazi tribal I tend to only play or two eldrazi because hate them or love them they have good effects/abilities. But yes I agree naturally they are frowned upon.
