Kamahl, Fist of Krosa viable?

Commander Deck Help forum

To give a bit of context, I've never actually played a Commander/EDH game, so I'm not exactly sure what is involved with an EDH deck, so any advice would be helpful.

Kamahl, Fist of Krosa has always been a big win con for me whenever I've ever played mono-green, so based on the only thing I really know (the legendary creature general thing), I would like to at least try to use him. Would anyone mind giving some advice on this?

If not, would anyone mind giving me a bit of a primer as to what kind of deck would be easiest to get into the format?

Link to Tolarian Community college on how to go about making an edh deck, was very helpful to me. I hope it will be for you.

Kamahl Imo can be a great piece or commander, for a commander deck.Personally Mono green druid ball with Seton, Krosan Protector is a place he can be pretty great.

I was literally just watching that lol, but I do appreciate the advice.

It seems like it'd be easier to build around a cheaper commander (at least first starting out).

What other sorts of druids would I want to run?

edhrec.com is helpful. not the end all be all of what you should run but gives a nice start to many decks. here is his page https://edhrec.com/commanders/kamahl-fist-of-krosa.

Green beatdown is pretty hard to deal with, and also very straight forward. Bonus because you're already pretty fond of green. The only real problem is dealing with mana hate, like Contaminate. But there are ways around it. Overgrowth, Wild Growth, Dawn's Reflection and since you're planning on running druids, Citanul Hierophants is always a great choice. Add to that Mana Reflection and you don't even have to worry about land hate.

Kamahl is certainly viable for creature based strategies. His land animating ability makes him a huge problem for people who want to cast boardwipes. They try, you turn their lands into dudes, they never do it again :p

kamahal is a pretty cool commander, from a player who once had a deck with him as a general tho a bit wonky...sence then ive learned a few tricks & other stuff....if i where to make him again id stuff Awakening Zone, From Beyond & Illusionist's Bracers the 2 first cards would make great ramp at start of game...then when you dont need ramp its creatures you can dump mana into them with kamahal, the last just gives buy one get one free with him. they are about $2, 50 cents& about $1.50 in that ordereven with from beyond if you decide you need/want to you can tutor up an eldrazi titan or some of the smaller ones that bring along tokens of their own Brood Monitor for example
