EDH Archenemy Anyone?

Commander Deck Help forum

So my little bro just got the new Nicol Bolas Archenemy set and it's alright, but the Archenemy deck seems a little too powerful, so I'm currently making a Jace, Unraveler of Secrets deck and an Ajani Vengeant deck to balance it out, using the same formula as the other 'good guy' decks (several rares, about 2 mythics, including the planeswalker the deck was built around, and max of 2 of any one card). This will eventually get boring. So here's my idea:

I have this Commander deck I have been working on for quite awhile,

Balls-to-the-Walls: TRIP-FEST,

and, when I play it with a group of people, they generally target me. This is due to a variety of reasons; my lack of game politics, the way I play, my skill level, but mostly the 'WALKERS. The threat of even one of them "max-ing" is always iminent, and they nearly shit themselves at the prospect. I generally win anyway, but them teaming up on me (however logical) changes the game dynamics. Because of this, I want to make it Archenemy style for a more fun game-play and flavour. Any ideas on how this should be done?

The fact that this deck would be near-impossible to create flavourfully, by that I mean that these guys would never fight side-by-side, doesn't matter, due to the deck's description. Any ideas on how to make the deck's story better are welcome.

The only issue I see here is that anyone can just build a deck with Solemnity and stop your deck, once it becomes annoying enough for them.

They're still good usernames out there. Anguished Unmaking, Vindicate, Oblivion Ring, etc... I've worked on these situations.

Actually, Solemnity doesn't affect planeswalkers. There's another card that does that though, right?

My mistake. I can't remember the card though.

Ahahahaha atraxa is an adorable idea for archenemy. Try Nekusar, the Mindrazer, people who aren't even in the game will try to kill you.

In all seriousness, it sounds like a great idea. I would advise making some schemes that are more commander oriented. Potentially stuff that screws with command tax, color identity, etc.

Best of luck!

The card you're thinking of is right here and it's called Immortal Sun. It's a mana artifact that says

"Players cant activate Loyalty abilities of Planeswalkers.

At the beginning of your draw step, draw an additional card.

Spells you cast cost 1 less to cast.

Creatures you control get +1/+1."

Thanks, griffstick, I'll have to petition to have that card removed from existence. Heh. As for Nekusar, The Mindrazor, Entrei, my little bro played him for awhile and it got monotonous. If I really wanted to make a great Archenemy EDH deck, I would make a (slightly casual) Leovold, Emissary of Trest combo-control or Stax, Zur the Enchanter combo-control/Stax, or Kruphix, God of the Horizons Eldrazi ramp. That's beside the point though; I'm starting out with Atraxa, Praetors' Voice because of the deck's content and support, the creatureless aspect helps make it unique. What I'm asking is what kind of cards and planeswalkers should I use, and how should I organize the games?
