I would take out Nykthos, Shrine to Nyx because this isn't a mono colored deck

All but 5 permanents are black...3 of those are multicolor with black. I dont follow your statement. Nykthos definitely helps here.

Looks pretty solid. Adding in devotion was probably a safe thing to do & Gray Merchant of Asphodel will be nice with it and Whip of Erebos . I would probably run Read the Bones over Tenacious Dead though. +1

Underworld Connections should be mainboarded with pack rat. they go hand in hand. also take out a whip or 2, having 4 is ludicrous, theyre legendary. also bubbling cauldron is not at all necessary. if you put in underworld connections dark prophecy isn't needed. also put in more removal.

With Underworld Connections I only get to draw one card per MY turn, whereas Dark Prophecy is whenever a creature I control dies, which will happen often if I'm sacking Tenacious Dead with the Bubbling Cauldron , then bringing him back to sac again.

If we can find a more efficient way to get card advantage, I'm all ears. Thoughts?

+1 for the deck title, and the first line of your intro.

I'm a casual and pauper player, so no idea if it's a good deck. But clever titling.

Underworld Connections is better for 2 huge reasons: 1.) It works on its own. While your idea is better IF you have all the pieces, but that's a big IF; 2.) you don't HAVE to use it whereas Dark Prophecy is a mandatory trigger. What happens if you play the Prophecy, but don't draw your Tenacious D or Cauldron?

One card per turn guaranteed is always better than maybe multiple cards at some point, maybe. There's enough randomness baked into the game, why add more variation?

Also, you can use Underworld Connections at instant speed so use it on your opponent's turn if you didn't tap out.

if you whip back an aetherling or obzedat and then exile them with their on card exile ability, they get exiled from your whip instead, so you cant reanimate them like you describe in your description. ("they tend to stick around with their kick ass exile effects!")

whip of erebos says: Return target creature card from your graveyard to the battlefield. If it would leave the battlefield, exile it instead of putting it anywhere else. (it says more i know but thats not important)

so if you would exile an aetherling with its exile and return ability, it just gets exiled instead.

still a good deck though! +1 from me!

TIMBER!!!!, thanks for the explanation. It is very possible that I'll end up removing the Tenacious Dead and the Bubbling Cauldron and end up switching out Dark Prophecy for Underworld Connections . I do want to test things out first before I make any decisions. Thank you for the feedback!

agoosteel, the exile effects for the creatures do actually override the whip. They do get exiled by the whip, but because of the text on Obzedat, Ghost Council and AEtherling , they do return to the field on their own accord, regardless of the whips stated ability. It's all a matter of how you trigger them. Ask a magic judge to explain it if you'd like. Than you for the +1!

Why aetherling? I feel Nightveil Specter fits better because you can cast it for BBB which opens up more swamps to your liliana and triggers Gary and fixes your curve. You don't need aetherling for late/end game you have the demon and pack ready for that. Just my thought

Simply because of the whip abuse with him. no particular reason otherthan that lol

I like Nightveil Specter , but I don't feel like it helps the deck the way I want it to. I do like the 3 devotion and the curb, but aside from that I'm not really feeling it right now, unless someone can draw me a diagram as to why, and what would be a good option to swap out for it
