Introduction:

In our gaming group, we enjoy engaging in 1V1 and FFA matches with legacy decks. I build decks consisting of 80 cards, this deck size helps me prevent milling, self-decking, and encountering additional copies of legendary cards while also providing more options. Lastly, when I build a deck, I do it with flavor, I do not deviate from that flavor even if there are better cards in other colors or if there are less flavorful cards in the same color that function better.

Deck Strategy: The strategy of this deck is to aggressively overwhelm the opponents board with small creatures while dealing incremental damage quickly while being field wipe resistant.

Hand Management: Does very well at refilling and rewards you with cards when being aggressive and losing creatures.

Archghoul of Thraben - Helps with filtering out lands and recovering from any field wipes at any point. Cryptbreaker - Is an excellent card mid-game and late-game and can be a great response to a field wipe when holding up defenders. Foulmire Knight - Acts as an incredible blocker and mid to late game draw card. Undead Augur - Incredible at recovering from a field wipe and the predominant draw engine. Unholy Grotto - Stacking your hand never looked so good.

Removal: Does great with removal when facing smaller weenie decks, larger creature decks are a little more tricky.

Cabal Pit - While not often used, it can come in clutch to get a last bit of damage through. Dark Salvation - Most times this card is cast for 1 black pip, but can easily fill the board late game. Grave Pact - A late game bomb that punishes opponents who block. fed well with Gravecrawler and Razorlash Transmogrant by Phyrexian Tower and Carrion Feeder. Murderous Rider - A quintessential key in keeping the board clear of ugly creatures. Skirk Ridge Exhumer - While not often used, skirk can produce creatures that can go wide and promote good defense when needing to dispose of lands. Virtue of Persistence - is a versatile removal piece that can help with indestructible creatures.

Field Wipe Adaptation: One of the most persistent decks I have ever built.

Archghoul of Thraben - fills the hand easier than other draw field wipes as it doesnt cost any life upon drawing. Crptbreaker - can respond to the casting of a field wipe at instant speed, allowing for quick draw. Dark Salvation - can fill up the board quickly late game in the event of a field wipe. Foulmire Knight - goes into exile until ready for use most times and works as excellent recovery. Gravecrawler - is the immortal undead that never stays in the graveyard. Murderous Rider - stays in exile until ready to be used. Razorlash Transmogrant - is a powerful 2 drop that plays well late game with its ability to recursively return from the graveyard. Carrion Feeder - is a great response to a exile field wipe as it can quickly sacrifice the board into the graveyard for later use. Undead Augur - responds well to field wipes, but it can be dangerous to have more than 1 out. Virtue of Persistence - can be played late game to help refill the field. Headless Rider - refills the board quickly after any field wipe and is a quintessential reanimation target. Whip of Erebos - can quickly damage a final hit after a wipe.

Life Gain: Not great at gaining life, but manages to pull through.

Murderous Rider - This card can add a little life gain to every attack, which adds up. Perfect after a field wipe. Whip of Erebos - The biggest life gain in the deck and acts perfectly as a end game bomb to keep the zombie train going. Virtue of Persistence - A small amount of life goes a very long way.

Damage: Very aggressive and the damage stacks quickly.

Champion of the Perished - Acting as a great removal target and as a early aggressive creature, can be a bomb at anytime of the game. Cryptbreaker - Can fill the board by discarding extra unwanted Swamps. Foulmire Knight - Acts as a great blocker at any point in the game. Gravecrawler - Provides unending damage in every game. Headless Rider - Populates the board quickly when paired with Gravecrawler or Razorlash Transmogrant. Razorlash Transmogrant - Punishes those who play too many non-basics and doesn't stay down. Carrion Feeder - Can get in that extra damage that would otherwise be blocked during attack.

Utility Lands: The land base is fairly boring but gets the job done, has room for improvement.

Cabal Pit - A way to remove more creature's late game. Phyrexian Tower - Acts as mana ramp to push out a few creatures at the end of turn while sacrificing a gravecrawler. Unholy Grotto - A way to load your top card with a creature you may want.

Sideboard Options: Needs more testing to judge the effectiveness of the sideboard nad what else can be added.

Thoughtsieze - Help get rid of that Farewell.

Maybeboard Options:

Conclusion:

Very fast paced deck that wins a lot, has great board synergy, and is far more aggressive and resilient than expected.

Concerns:

Big creature decks could prove troublesome but so far it just barely manages to beat them each time.

Stats: I have played maybe 15 games with this deck, finally taking it out of beta, will start updating stats soon. Wins 2/3 games.

Lethality refers to a deck's remarkable efficacy in eliminating all players seated at the table. Lethal wins epitomize instances where a player successfully eliminates their opponents, while lethal losses denote missed opportunities to secure those kills. A player becomes a missed kill when either another player eliminates them or when the deck fails to eliminate the remaining player in time. Points are awarded in blocks of 10 for wins and losses, with smaller blocks granted if a player neither finishes first nor last. The ranking system ranges from A to E, with A representing an impeccably crafted deck and E indicating the need for further refinement.
