Blaine the Mono Update —Sept. 28, 2016

Post KLD changes, still figuring out exactly how to roll with this. Taking it even more aggro while removing some control. Will likely have a control heavy sideboard once I get that updated again.

For the Main board: Aradara Express , Fleetwheel Cruiser , Saheeli Rai , Spirebluff Canal

Adding in Blaine the Mono and the Cruiser for some colorless vehicle love which I can fling using the Barrage Tyrant post attack.

Susannah Dean (Ms. Rai) brings her split personality into the fold allowing me to scry and damage opponents or copy artifacts/creatures (which can also get flung). Her ultimate might not get used much in aggro mode, but can be a game ender. I will probably add one more vehicle from sideboard in longer control matches to take advantage of the 3 unique artifacts instead of using stoneforge as the 3rd.

I don't have these cards yet, but brewing up what I would ideally do post rotation to improve this. Will update the description in the near future after some further consideration.

Nice I like it! But can I suggest maybe a Deepfathom Skulker Idk if it'll fit in though. To me it seems good in most Blue eldrazi decks

Thanks Msgstallion! That card does indeed look like a nice card for this deck. I like that it combines two things that I am already trying to do and I could see this as a side board card for longer control oriented games. Basically a Slip Through Space on sticks. Enables card draw from the Vile tramplers and can make them unblockable as well. Problem is, it's a bit expensive to cast. With a herald or two out, the cost is a little better, but in most games this card might be too little/too late.

Eldrazi tickle my curiosity and I really like this deck. I'm kinda new to magic but I was wondering with Whirler Rogue leaving standard in almost a month what cards could take it's role? What you think about Thought Harvester or Gravity Negator to take care of flyers?

Thanks for checking out my deck Nyasupan! I have a feeling that the next block will have some more thopters so there might be some colorless flyer replacements when that is revealed. I think the two you mentioned might work well (i like the negator more as it could give a vile aggregate flying), as well as Mist Intruder and Dimensional Infiltrator as cheaper cmc options. another card ive been toying with would be to include Mercurial Geists, despite the fact that its not a colorless creature, its a 1/3 flyer that can be pumped up by taking advantage of the 16 instants/soceries in this deck. might playtest that in the future. otherwise you could always add more control to pin down flyers, burn to take them down, or get more aggressive to force the opponent to block with their flyers. Spontaneous Mutation could be another decent card for neutering flying threats, as long as you have some cards in the grave.

I will try to go with Gravity Negator for now, I think too Kaladesh will bring more colorless cards who can deal with flyers. Today I'll taste this with a friend.

How did testing go Nyasupan?

Testing was good, I tried both Gravity Negator and Mercurial Geists and I found the first to be more useful against a many fliers as I could always spend 1-2 colorless and make bigger creatures fly. I will keep both options with me and try to play more against decks with different fliers, I really like this list.

So far we have spoilers for Pia Nalaar and Whirlermaker. The W'Maker will be too slow and boring. Pia is cool, but I wish the pump ability said colorless instead of artifact! I think I like the other devoid blue flyer options discussed above better, but Pia is a maybe. We'll see what else shakes out from Kaladesh.

Experimental Aviator... hmm meh. Not as good as whirler rogue. ok as a sideboard card vs lots of flyers I guess... but I think I'd rather stick to the devoid flyers or more burn/counters/etc to combat flyers instead.
