0-5 Overhaul —April 26, 2017
I took this to a local tournament and went 0-5. I learned some important lessons while I was there. A friendly member of the Facebook UWx Control Community helped me make some upgrades and here's where I sit after feedback and acquisitions:
1) I need more lands. I updated the land count to 24. There are 4x Ghost Quarter, 2x Flooded Strand, 2x Faerie Conclave, and 2x Forbidding Watchtower in the mana base now. I no longer run Taplands unless they're Manlands as well.
2) More spot removal keeps this deck alive longer. I found that I was unable to keep up with the board and quickly fell behind. I added 4x Path to Exile, adjusted Condemn to 2x, and 3x Detention Sphere. I also added 4x Supreme Verdict because my main strategy is to get the opponent to over-commit on turn 4 or 5 and then nuke the board.
3) I added 2x more Serum Visions for a total of 4x and dropped Think Twice to 2x.
4) I only use 3x Wall of Omens and 1x AEtherling. The former is there purely for card draw and maybe a chump block because it dies to Fatal Push. The latter is there as a backup in case Gideon fails.
