Road to v1.5 ! —June 15, 2020
Cut : - Leonin Relic-Warder : it's the less effective tool in the "anti-enchantments/artifacts" suite, since it gives back what it stole, and the addition of Feline Sovereign makes it less impactful on the board. It can be added back, as its spot is shared by underwhelming kitties like Felidar Cub and Enlightened Ascetic.
-
Pride of Lions : yes, it's an unblockable 8/8, but it felt a little underwhelming. Jazal Goldmane feels pretty much the same, but it's a 4 drop and the Pride is a 5-drop. Same as above, they can be switched if further playtesting shows that the cut wasn't the good one.
-
Pouncing Lynx : it's very good in the first few turns, but it's a dead draw if the game takes too long.
-
Whitemane Lion : it's a bad Fleetfoot Panther, and it shares the same flaw - their ability is not a "may". I kept the panther around, since it's still a good tool to save a critter, but Temur Sabertooth outclasses Whitemane Lion by far.
-
Slippery Karst : I had to make room for Animal Sanctuary.
Added : - Dueling Grounds : Silent Arbiter, but harder to deal with. It's a always a good thing to swing with a huge beast and take off key creatures, or go big but not be punished by token armies.
-
Feline Sovereign : it's a cat, and it's a lord for 3 mana. It helps us deal with enchantments and artifacts. When I first built this deck, the only cat lords (outside of Adaptive Automaton) were Regal Caracal and Raksha Golden Cub. The Sovereign is huge, and is a nice addition to King of the Pride.
-
Kaheera, the Orphanguard : it's a cat, and it 's a lord for 3 mana. It's as huge as Feline Sovereign, but it's even better when Jareth, Leonine Titan is on board.
-
Alms Collector : Everyone likes to draw more. And it's a cat, amazing, right ?
-
Animal Sanctuary : This new land gives me even more options to pump my cats, so, yes, it's an auto-include.
