Yeah, you can always bounce the RIP if it's needed before a combo turn. Faerie macabre is the only viable uncounterable interaction for breakfast hulk. I'm the only Flash hulk player in my metas so I get to avoid these problems unless someone borrows my deck

Yeah good point. Zur does a damn good job keeping pace though. It seems as if sometimes my go-to line is now Necro rather than Ad Naus.

Okay Dispel is officially doing way better than Counterspell. Swords to Plowshares and Force of Will were successfully stopped. It's definitely worth the swap.

I need to evaluate more, my meta still has a lot of must counter sorceries and enchantments. I would like to have lower CMC interaction of I can though

Followed your example and tried out the Scepter this weekend. Didn't like it. Felt too clunky with too little payoff. Also, very nice new layout on the text!

I agree on scepter not really being worth it.

I'm gonna add some hypergeometric probabilty calculations on the Necropotence lines soon, and Quicken puts in massive work for those.

So assuming T3 Zur swing, you have seen 7 cards in hand + 3 cards drawn, conservatively assuming no filtering effects, 89 cards remaining in deck= pop size, 32 cards drawn = sample size, your ability to find Shimmer Myr is ~90%. Your ability to find Ad Naus + AG + Ritual is ~37%

Excellent that they're featuring this list. More people should be made aware. Shimmer Zur has far surpassed the original list, and to me, is the new true Tier 1 Zur list.

Simply using Zur as a backup isn't working anymore. I tried the Skuloth list for grins on a Skype game the other night, and it doesn't hold up at all. Too fragile, and not fast enough to fight these new decks that are emerging.

Alexdagreat Thanks! I'm a fan of it too :D I tried forcing the DD line in a game (kinda like testing the old build) and it worked with some Necro exile shenanigans but I was sweating bullets the whole time. Any interaction would have ruined me. The storm route lets you keep 1-2 counterspells up at all times so I definitely prefer it.

Antwaan33 This is referring to the line "Shimmer Myr + Mana Crypt + Mana Vault + Aetherflux Reservoir wins on the spot with only 11 more spells with trigger stacking (165 life gain)" right?

This references the storm win in the deck with Aetherflux Reservoir. At the end step when we get our cards from Necropotence a god hand will allow us to win purely through flashing in Shimmer Myr, some mana positive artifacts such as Mana Crypt and Mana Vault, and then Aetherflux Reservoir. From there, every spell cast will trigger the reservoir. We can respond to a trigger by casting another spell, and when we allow the triggers to resolve, each trigger sees all spells we cast that turn. Here is the gatherer ruling on it: "The number of spells you've cast is counted only as Aetherflux Reservoirs triggered ability resolves. For example, if you cast a spell, then respond to the triggered ability with a second spell, you'll gain 4 life total." Since in this scenario we've cast 4 spells so far (Shimmer, 2 rocks and reservoir) If we cast 11 more spells by responding to the aetherflux trigger each time, the life we will gain will be 11 spells *15 total spells cast =165 as opposed to the normal Aetherflux life gain of 5+6+7+8+9+10+11+12+13+14+15=110.

In normal play we won't get a god hand which allows this much stacking without performing some mana positive storm shenanigans and tutoring first, but it's possible. Normally we'll win by doing this with more spells cast instead. I just wanted to highlight the efficiency of trigger stacking in the example.

hate to do this, but in the current version of the deck (July 13th 2017) the total CMC of the deck is actually 160, not counting Zur. not sure how much that chages the math of Ad Nauseam, but in my experience with the deck gaining 150+ life in one turn off of Aetherflux Reservoir is not too much of a challenge.

I love the deck to death, I'm infamous at my LGS for playing STAX in commander so when I pulled this baby out after playing for a bit with the CEDH discord I not only swept through the table, but also am now one of the most feared commander players there. I love it!

Alexdagreat Baral is interesting, it can't be played at instant speed like Etherium Sculptor for cost reduction but it has a loot effect, so you can loot a few times in the game and in a pinch you can counter your own spell to draw a card at instant speed. We're usually trying to be a fast deck and I don't know if he generates enough value for that, I'd have to test him

Only 3 games with caverns so far and I haven't seen it yet, but in theory it's basically a free mox diamond in the opening hand so it belongs in fast combo

A friend of mine in NYC who's also a dealer said that now because EDH is way more popular and Legacy is going to be sanctioned at the Pro Tour, people are doing buy outs of foil staples, dual lands, and masterpieces. Yours is now over 6k in its own right! The Masterpiece lands really finished the deck for sure though haha

wkli6 I think it's inferior to Helm of Awakening which applies to all spells and (if you need more artifact cost reduction) Etherium Sculptor. It costs 3 mana to play and removes an additional card from our hand, so it would be completely unplayable outside a combo turn.

So I've been debating putting Stifle and Cyclonic Rift (in place of Hurkyl's) back in due to shut down those creature stax and hulk decks. What are your thoughts?

I think Faerie macabre and/or Rest in peace come in for GY hulk things. It hurts off Ad Naus more than stifle but is uncounterable and free to use.

Cyc rift is hard, it got cut because of how infrequently it was used for it's overload cost. IF you have 7 mana you can hopefully do better things.

I think more removal would be fine to run depending on your meta, but probably as 1 mana spot removal. We'd be getting into bad card territory, but cards like Drown in Sorrow or Massacre etc. might work if it's multiple players doing this. Can you just tutor for Toxic deluge if they start coming out?
