Wither Persist Counter Combo - Presentation
type:
combo synergy deck, based on counters and effects "Wither" and "Persist".
Game could be won in round 4.
goal:
get the combo or use synergetic gameplay to slowly wither and persist to win mainly by playing defensively.
tactic:
play defensive with persisting creatures like
Safehold Elite
, life spending
Kitchen Finks
and withering
Rendclaw Trow
.
Also with
Odious Trow
and withering
Cinderbones
who can regenerate themselves.
Let the withering and controling army grow in amount and damage. Keep defensive untill the combo is implemented.
In the first round comes
Odious Trow
as a nice blocker with regeneration.
In the second round comes
Devoted Druid
who can boost mana production. Otherwise
Safehold Elite
with persist is a good defensive choice.
In the third round comes
Quillspike
to get the combo with
Devoted Druid
. Otherwise
Rendclaw Trow
with persist and wither is an excellent defensive choice.
With
Devoted Druid
in play there can also come
Creakwood Liege
for an early boost, but the combo is prior.
In the fourth round
Quillspike
can be boosted infinitely by the combo with
Devoted Druid
and with fear by
Aphotic Wisps
he may win the game.
Rite of Consumption
can bring the win the same way just in another form.
Otherwise the game goes on being defensive and resistive. Therefore
Power Conduit
helps to remove the -1/-1 counters from persist and turn them into +1/+1 counter to strengthen the defense and offense aswell.
Kitchen Finks
is another nice creature with persist that gives also 2 life on entering. Once
Quillspike
is in play he can consume all -1/-1 counters from persist.
In the next rounds you start to implement more withering stuff like
Cinderbones
with regeneration.
Necroskitter
with wither has an insane effect to prefer from wither.
Crumbling Ashes
is the 3rd card in this synergy. Creatures of the opponent will get withered on block, getting destroyed and then reanimated on your own control.
Rendclaw Trow
fits very well in this mechanic. Just be persistive and withering to conquer the battlefield to win even without the combo.
The sideboard provides supports and options like the cheap flying and withering
Oona's Gatewarden
or destroying
Soul Reap
.
Bestcase:
1.)
Swamp
+ card:Odious Troll
2.)
Forest
+
Devoted Druid
3.)
Forest
+
Quillspike
4.)
Swamp
+
Aphotic Wisps
-> combo + attack with infinite damage by
Quillspike
with fear to win.
(play on defensively if failed the combo and wither the opponent down...)
note:
this deck is ment to be played more defensivly and slowly by using wither, persist and regeneration if needed untill the combo is implemented.
Possibly more cards with counter removal should be played to save the persist abilities. Also more to save or get
Quillspike
would be good indeed.
