Flooded Strand fetch Hallowed Fountain?
Asked by WorkAround 10 years ago
Can I use Flooded Strand to get Hallowed Fountain? Does it fetch for card name or card type?

If an effect cares about a card's name, it will specifically be written to say something like "a card named NN". If a land-search effect can only get basic lands, it will specifically be written to say "basic". Flooded Strand can go get Hallowed Fountain, Plateau, Mistveil Plains, Snow-Covered Island, or anything else with the subtype "Plains" or "Island". It can't go get Glacial Fortress, Rugged Prairie, Dismal Backwater, Ruins of Trokair, or anything else that doesn't have the proper subtype.

A little costly though..... 1 life for the fetch and 2 for the shock land to come into play untapped.....LOL

Believe me, if you need the mana right now then it's totally worth it.

Yes.
This is what makes fetches so good. They can fetch any land with the applicable subtypes. So a Flooded Strand can fetch Hallowed Fountain or Tundra. It can also fetch Breeding Pool and Underground Sea. Just look after Land - "types" If it says plains of island you can fetch it.
