Master of Cruelties + Deathcult Rogue , + Lifebane Zombie , + Thassa, God of the Sea + Nightveil Specter + Desecration Demon + Gray Merchant of Asphodel

Beginnings of a new brew I'm thinking about. Thoughts?

Seems a little busy. While Thassa's 1U unblockable giving ability is effective, it's a little excessive to justify splashing a color, I won't address the deathcult rogue or nightveil specter, as they are hybrid cost cards.

As far as just plugging Master of Cruelties into the Rakdos Haste deck, I'm sure it wouldn't hurt having 1-2 copies in it.

Trying to play things like Underworld Connections in the Rakdos Haste deck would not work, which is one of the best cards to run along side Gray Merchant of Asphodel so I'll just tell you now that it's not a good idea to mix even two of these deck idea's together, let alone all three.

The last time I tried to combine two archetype's I got this

It's mono-blue with a splash of white for control, but it never went top 8 because other, more focused decks like pure mono-blue and mono-black devotion decks are streamlined to perform at maximum efficiency at FNM level and above.

If you wanted to make a casual kitchen table deck that happens to be standard, go ahead and jam all those idea's together, it's bound to be interesting in the right match-ups.

I wasn't planning on splashing blue in Rakdos hate...it would be more of a "Grixis Midrange" focusing on black creatures for Gray Merchant of Asphodel and could also go with the Blue devotion for Thassa, God of the Sea . I don't think that trying to have both devotions in the same deck with Dimir hybrid cards would be much of a problem. I thought that since a lot of the creatures would have inherent evasion, they could break board stalls after a Master of Cruelties trigger.

The deck would probably include Jace, Architect of Thought for card draw, anti-aggro -1/-1 and would add to the blue devotion to turn on Thassa, God of the Sea . Removal could be good since R/B have the best removal right now, and I can even include Lightning Strike for straight burn to the face after Master of Cruelties also

the problem with playing black devotion is that your devotion can't be from creatures most of the time. Things like your rogue and specter is that they can easily be burned and killed. Its not to say this will happen every single time, but its much more difficult to get rid something like Underworld Connections . so your blue devotion will suffer and getting thassa to be a creature will be a bit difficult.

BUT i like the idea. Maybe instead of Deathcult Rogue you run Ashiok, Nightmare Weaver . Both are 3 drops and ashiok is more to deal with than just 2 dmg. dont forget TONS of removal. Chromatic Lantern , Counterflux , Snapcaster Mage and splash white for Restoration Angel

can't run Snapcaster Mage and Restoration Angel in standard...and going to 4 colors just seems a bit inconsistent with all of the monocolor devotion decks running rampant.

and as far as the blue devotion it wouldn't be done all the time, however it was another option in long games with Thassa, God of the Sea being overlooked

I like the Ashiok, Nightmare Weaver idea. Think I'll go with that thanks!
