It goes with the name so well though. Also, not having to crack your fetches because they can tap for mana is nice. Not even considering fetching shocks is nice, because a basic plains will do with urborg.

Sory for commenting so late.

@ xzzane - Hand Disruption is important, but I feel like the 6 slots I have budgeted already seems enough. Currently they are also my only one drops as well, so I generally get one out. I don't want to add more because after the first three or four turns, hand disruption is a terrible top deck. I'd much rather have a creature, token generator, or Elspeth.

@Heavystorm274 Same thing goes to you about hand disruption, and as for Mana Tithe, I don't think its a good fit for this type of deck. A counterspell is a terrible topdeck in this build, and mana tithe is a pretty shitty one. Its only useful in the first 2 or 3 turns where I'd much rather be using my mana to build up on my own tokens & enchantments.

@ perseus1718 Secure the Wastes isn't that good early game and late game isn't that great until I have >5 mana out. Then it gets pretty good. It might be alright as a 1 or 2 of, but the high mana slot I've filled with Elspeth. So I don't think I'm going to include.

Thanks for your suggestions!

Tragic Slip over Doom Blade? Seems like there'd be more utility with it in your deck.

In my own B/W tokens list I've been rather impressed with slip. Sometimes getting the morbid on is a little bit of a challenge, but otherwise Death Wind for one usually gets some work done. Outside of Disfigure, it's a reasonable answer for a T1 mana dork.

Tragic Slip is actually a pretty nice idea. I was thinking Vendetta for quick removal, and I would add some more life gain to the deck with Whip of Erebos or Vault of the Archangel

Or I could add Attrition and have a source of repeated removal.

Don't add tragic slip, vendetta or attrition. Path to exile and dismember at your best forms of removal.

Path to Exile is expensive. That's why we're looking for alternatives. By all means if I obtain any ill add it. But honestly tragic slip and vendetta aren't horrible. They are actually pretty good.

Well there are still a lot better options. Tragic slip has to rely on morbid and vendetta can be deadly against an aggro deck since tokens lacks sufficient lifegain to support it. I could see a bw soul sisters deck use it though.

That's why I was thinking about adding more lifegain. It would improve the burn matchup as well. A Whip of Erebos can come down turn 4 and gain at least 3-5 life, and Vault of the Archangel can be activated turn 5. And since I only have 2 fetches, I don't lose as much life to my mana base.

Sorin, Solemn Visitor is much better than whip of erebos.

Yeah, but again... Price.

xzzane says... #12

What is your budget exactly? I can make you a deck list based on what you can afford if you want me to.

May 30, 2015 11:36 a.m.

ojmandias says... #13

I'd rather make the deck list myself and get feedback. Thank you.

ojmandias says... #14

And my budget is $2 per card. But that's the very upper end. I'd rather not have to spend that much per card

Attrition is fine for our meta but I wouldn't recommend it for tournament play since it seems a little slow from the get-go. As for Whip of Erebos I'll keep my eyes peeled for alternatives that can lower the man curve a little. If only Basilisk Collar wasn't so expensive...

Willing maybe?

Where's Locutus of Borg at?

May 30, 2015 1:58 p.m.

ojmandias says... #17

@Slayne I am Locutus of Borg.

@ An_A Willing sounds pretty nice but I'd rather not take another card out for it. Anyway Attrition is also out of budget. It was just a thought.

Why are you running Suns champion with only 21 land?

May 30, 2015 5:35 p.m.

ojmandias says... #19

I only have 2 fetches so my lands don't get thinned out. And usually I'll hideaway her anyway.

May 30, 2015 6:05 p.m.

xzzane says... #20

Thinning out is really not a big deal anyways in terms of fetches. You can't rely on windbrisk to get suns champion out.

May 30, 2015 6:09 p.m.

ojmandias says... #21

I don't. But its happened pretty often, and I don't have problems getting to 6. And fetches do make a pretty big difference in the proportions of lands you draw. One or two doesn't yeah, but once you go to 4 to 6 then when you crack 2 you've removed 4 lands from your deck and the chances of drawing more land drop significantly.

May 30, 2015 6:14 p.m.

xzzane says... #22

mathematically speaking it's actually not that much, surprisingly. Someone once did an article about it, bit I forget who. And still, it would be better to take out suns champion.

May 30, 2015 6:17 p.m.

ojmandias says... #23

Lol, I'll look for that article, and we've been over the sun's champion debate. The only reason I got her was because she was stupid cheap for a planeswalker, ($4 for 2) and honestly she's fun to put down on the table. Ideally, I'd put in knight-errant or solemn visitor, but I can't find any good deals for them. If I was going to an FNM yeah,, I'd replace her with literally anything else, but for kitchen table she's fine.

May 30, 2015 6:21 p.m.

xzzane says... #24

I can agree to that at least. For kitchen table it might be fine. I would still recommend more lands though haha.

I really like the title and the token generators. My one suggestion is Secure the Wastes.
