Clearing up Ze comments! —May 19, 2015

Thanks all for the comments and suggestions you guys have to brought to the table! This deck has transformed from the crappy ass version, into a clean and sharpened blade, but remember, a blade can always be sharpened! (AKA The more suggestions the merrier!! I Will personally go through and put a detailed (as I deem fit) response to your suggestion/inquiry/whatever it is).

Thanks all you guys and gals out there who helped this deck so far! I never thought this deck would become so popular! Before the clean is 64 comments!!! I cannot emphasize enough how grateful I am of you guys, from winning at FNMs or just small tourneys with friends, I have made enough money from pulls to make 5-6 of these if I sold those cards (and if I wanted to :P)

THANK YOU ALL

Since everything is very complimentary and this isn't a combo deck or one-off wincon, I would consider running 4x Valorous Stance and getting rid of the Pressure Points. It's such a good card, comparatively.

Hidden Dragonslayer looks better with the Chiefs, too. And it's a $1 rare.

Pressure point provides a nice Draw Source though, not to mention getting any pesky big guys out of the way.

Valorous Stance gets rid of the big guys too, lol. I just mean, destroy is better than tap and he doesn't need card draw that bad, IMO.

What about that new black warrior that make them block two or more creatures from dragons

Thanks all for your comments and suggestions!marioman77, the card you are talking about is Blood-Chin Rager, I have been trying to figure out what to take out for it!

dondooley, I forgot about Hidden Dragonslayer! only problem is that the morph cost is 3, then you have to flip it up for 3, to me that is a waste, I'd rather use Murderous Cut, or even Ultimate Price. Also, Pressure Point has saved my ass more times than I can count, I have been considering switching to 3 or 4 of them. Valorous Stance is no doubt a good card, but I'd rather use 2 Val Stance, and 2 Ajani's Presence. Thank you though

jcp1195 EXACTLY!!!!! :D :D :D

Hey synonimous_ I really like this deck, I'm thinking about building it. Two question though. Why Sultai Emissary? Second, would it be viable or worth adding in a couple dragons like Sunscorch Regent or something? Sorry I like dragons a lot.

shamE12 Hey! Thanks! So to answer your first question I like sultai Emissary because of A) its a warrior, and B) The Manifest has saved my ass many a time, getting that 2/2 can be extremely helpful, especially if that is a cheap but efficient creature to surprise people with (Like a chief for instance), if you look at the mana cost, you are basically getting a 1/1 warrior (which can be boosted with the chiefs and such), along with the 2/2 manifest surprise attack creature/spell/thing. Other question, I personally would not add in any dragons (unless you magically find a cmc 3 or less dragon warrior, in that case go ahead!) but dragons mess up the synergy, plus most are REALLY late game, like turn 5 or 6, hopefully you won't get the point with that much land that you have nothing to do with except a dragon. Through this, no I would not add in dragons.

(Sorry for that long response =, I tend to elongate explainations! :D)

I like the build though I'd definitely say adding in a Brutal Hordechief is a good idea since the life drain kills your opponents faster and allows you to swing with everything and have no remorse. Also Battle Brawler from fate reforged kills other Aggro decks once the Chiefs are out. Foul-Tongue Shriek kills people as its a 1 cmc spell that essentially gives you Hordechiefs drainkng effect. Also Blood-Chin Rager is worthy of main decking as is Herald of Dromoka specifically for the fact that they boost your offensive and herald helps defensive against red agggro decks. All in all I like it +1 it's an awesome deck and I'll post mine for you to see later. :D

I like your deck! +1 from me!

One card that you could consider is Return to the Ranks put up to two in your mainboard, if not there, then 2 in the side.

I run it in most of my decks that are using white because: Anytime I can get a 2 for 1 (Remove or add 2 or more creatures to the field using just one card from hand) I will jump at it. Because of convoke on this card I have often cast it for 6 mana total (making X=4) without paying even half of it. I don't mind tapping my creatures if I'm getting several new blockers by casting the spell.

Clearly this card isn't an aggro card, BUT it hurts decks that run 1 for 1 removal... Whiiiiiich is like ALL OF THEM.

Give it a look.

Good luck man. I love to see effective budget decks. I tend to specialize in Budget-Combo-Standard decks, take a look for other fun budget ideas if you want.

+1 from me!

P.S. I really like Sultai Emissary also. 2 mana for 2 creatures is always a great deal. The fact that he's a warrior is just icing on the cake!

Zacoly, thanks a ton for the suggestion!!! I completely forgot about Return to the Ranks!! I have like 3 lying around somewhere so I will do my best to add it in!! But what should I take out for it? I have been considering going down to 2 bloodsoaked, and with play testing I find that Artful Maneuver is main-board worthy, so I have been planning on replacing bloodsoaked (2) with artful maneuver (2). Suggestions for cards to take out?? (maybe Mardu Woe-Reaper)??

April 12, 2015 1:51 p.m.

Zacoly says... #15

I might take out Feat of Resistance x2

I know you can use it offensively to get through a bit of damage sometimes but with tri-color decks everywhere that's less common than usual.

The defensive use isn't as big of a deal when you can get your guy back next turn along with most of his buddies.

April 12, 2015 2 p.m.

synonimous_ says... #16

Zacoly. Feat is too useful, with things like Banishing Light, Silkwrap, and Suspension Field in standard right now, I need it to provide protection for those stuff. And you would be surprised how well it works when using it to punch damage through, or even making one specific problem useless for that turn AND it gives a +1/+1 counter. I will most likely take out Mardu Hateblade, whatcha think?

April 12, 2015 2:22 p.m.

Zacoly says... #17

In my meta I see almost exclusively simple kill spells not exile/tap effects.

Blood-Chin Fanatic can sac your tapped creatures if one gets hit by Silkwrap

April 12, 2015 4:59 p.m.

synonimous_ says... #18

Zacoly. Your meta is your meta tho, and I don't always have a Blood-Chin Fanatic to respond with. In this deck, unless I sideboard in Revoke Existence, once a creature is gone, it is gone for good (except Bloodsoaked Champion, if its in the grave). Feat of Resistance saves my ass A LOT, so Im gonna keep it in until I can find a more suitable replacement.

April 12, 2015 6:22 p.m.

Ej1997 says... #19

Center soul would replace feat nicely since it would give an aggro purpose to a defensive card while providing the same defensive capabilities. I know it doesn't give the +1/+1 counter but I still like swinging with a creature I know is safe from my opponent especially when I can protect Chiefs or some other key creature from a spell or blocking creature that'd wreck my board presence otherwise offensively.

Though I must admit I like Return to the Ranks more since it gives this deck unexpected explosiveness if your opponent manages to drag the game out to that could possibly overwhelm them. My problem is though that I don't like how easily it can be countered by blue/white/black variants which are running around and begin to thrive late game when Return would be useful. If anything it'd be a side board two of for me against G/R decks so I have more chump blockers late game to take down heavy hitters.

April 12, 2015 6:53 p.m.

synonimous_ says... #20

Ej1997, yeah Center Soul is an option, but, Feat of Resistance gives that extra +1/+1 counter and that can help a lot with the damage, and it can provide later protection from burn spells as well as more damage. Maybe I will put it 1-2 centers, I don't know yet, thanks for the suggestion tho!!

April 13, 2015 2:16 p.m.

Ej1997 says... #21

understand that. If anything id run two of each and side board two and rotate then based on you're judgement calls for matches that differ between control whichll be running removable in one color or burn decks depending because the rebound does help against control.

Ej1997, indeed, I ended up moved Pressure Point to sideboard, and replacing with Center Soul. After some playtesting it works out REALLY well! Thanks YALL!!

I really like how you've realised the importance of protection in warriors, a lot of people seem to think that playing 30 warriors will somehow lead to a victory. Personally I like Ajani's Presence, since you get the +1/+1 and it can be used late game to protect multiple creatures, but your choices will work. It's just more problematic to try to keep 2 mana open as opposed to 1. Then again it depends on your meta, mine likes to destroy as opposed to exile. If that changed I would go for Feat of Resistance instead, as the +1/1 is so useful to a build with double strike.

Speaking of which, run 4 Arashin Foremost and Blood-Chin Rager. Best warrior cards without question.

You've also got the mid-game covered with Return to the Ranks but you now have a serious conflict. There is no way you can play a single Murderous Cut and RTTR in the same deck. One needs cards to bring back, the other needs cards to exile. Personally I'd dropped the cuts and replace them with either more Valorous Stance or Bile Blight or Ultimate Price.

SB needs a lot of work, no offence but its a bit of a mess. I recommend taking a look at mine as it is catered to deal with lots of problem decks, all from experience.

Kettleback, wow thanks for all the advice man! First off, I think now I will run 4 presence and put Erase in side in case of exile scenarios. Answering about why I don't put in 4 Arashin Foremost, this deck is meant to be budget, I don't want to go over $40, but If I happen to pull any extra ones, I will be sure to add them in! Blood-Chin Rager, I just got another booster box of DTK, and I pulled an additional 2 blood chins, so now Ill be sure to add them in! Now to move onto your point about murderous cut and RTTR, see, with murderous, I normally have a good 3-5 spells in grave that aren't creatures, plus with creatures that are CMC 3, I can afford to run it. I will put in Ultimate Price! I completely forgot it got reprinted in DTK until I pulled 3!!! :P

Final thing, what does SB mean?? Sorry I just can't figure out what it means :P.

Thanks!
