Possible changes:
Fervor -> Vedalken Orrery (Orrery does what we wanted from Fervor, and a bunch of other stuff as well)
Consign / Oblivion --> Chain of Vapor (one mana!)
Crook of Condemnation -> Rakdos Charm (probably better!)
I'm a little unsure about the last one, as I haven't gotten to try out the Crook yet.
It would be nice to find a spot for Windfall, and Pain Magnification probably belongs in the deck somewhere.
On the "not dying plan", we still have to consider Devour Flesh.
Early creatures continue to be a puzzle. Abyssal Specter and Doomsday Specter are plausible. Vortex Elemental would be another rattlesnake, and Dimir Doppelganger could synergize with all the discard.
I keep thinking about Notion Thief...
