OKAY HERE WE GO.

Goblin Test Pilot is currently the best card in standard, but he's kind of hard to get going, right? So here's what we do, in chronological order.

1. Defense: All the creatures have high defense, to minimize the goblin test pilot's... reckless... behavior. Frostburn Weird will hold any agro off, and any creature in the deck will provide the buffer you need.

2. Suppress: Counterspells EVERYWHERE. Counterflux , Turn / Burn , Izzet Charm, and even essense backlash all punish people for playing strong cards. I laugh with glee when trying to cast Desecration Demon deals six damage to you. Izzet Staticaster can burn things, and Goblin Test Pilot can shut down tokens.

3. Offense: Pyroconvergence and Lobber Crew each trigger off of nearly every spell in the deck, turning your goblin test pilot into a shocking flying chump blocking menace. Additionally, the opponent will be so suppressed that Fluxcharger and Frostburn Weird can get some strong hits in themselves. Ral Zarek augments everything; untapped lobbed crew for an extra hit, help the test pilot or staticaster take down something big, and provides something that the opponents have to take care of. I don't expect to use his ultimate, because if I do, let's be honest, I've already won anyways.

It ain't $600 in land, but if you know when to counter, you'll win every time.
